Hey guys, I did the email activation for GCII and it will run now, but Dark Avatar won't even though I installed it after I validated GCII. I tried an email activation for Dark Avatar, but I got no response from the automated server. New notebook as other one died, sux, can't play all weekend. Any ideas?

Interesting comment. But I'm not sure I agree with that. There are more races to conquer, possibility of alliances against you, etc. If that's true, then I must be a defensive player...actually, I go the influence route often.

I've always set my opponents to random (not intelligence though), and usually ended up with 7-8 races plus minor races. Now I've got two races for opponents the game gave me and it's incredibly much easier. What's a good opponents setting to balance out the game for an average player who doesn't take notes while playing? Maybe I've been beating myself up for naught. The only victory I've had is a Tec

Next time the Korath come up (I set to random opponents), I'll try to set a Spore 'Lure'...sounds fun. Hey, I'm semi-retired, but have been a gamer since the beginning of gaming time, and have been playing GalCiv nearly non-stop for 5 weeks. I do have to sleep and eat sometimes. It's warping my mind. I'm gonna have to switch over to Heroes V for a while guys See ya in a few. Thanks for the comments

I'm playing on a HUGE map btw. Many games are much quicker, but this particular one is really going on and on....research rate is normal. Habitable planets uncommon, man require research to colonize.

Interesting....in a current game I'm going on 17 years, been fighting with Drengin for close to 9 years as Terrans....haven't even got my decent ships built yet. I usually steal a bunch of planets with influence during the first half or so of the game before I start researching the weapons, etc very much. Maybe this is why all my games drag on so long. But this is why I think this is a great game, the variables are incredible and a completely different game everytime.

I guess you're right, maybe. But in the real world I would use a gas mask against germ warfare... . I'm beating the Korath right now anyway (in normal) .

I'm curious as to opinions on the Korath Spore Ships. It seems to me there should be some way, through research, to defend against germ warfare attacks on a colony, like espionage, rather than tracking and shooting down Spore Ships. Even if it cost a lot, it seems this would balance out the game better. Am I wrong? Curious as to opinions. thanks

The difficulty is Normal, the opponents I always set to random. I only have one (had) military starbases upgraded. Man, I didn't know they could make that much difference. I was monitoring Thalan ships to check weaponry when I researched defenses. This is a tough game, but extremely fun. It's a long way from Leisure Suit Larry . Waiting on Disciples III too, btw <img src="http://images.stardock.com/g

Ok, what am I doing wrong. I play normal difficulty, large to huge maps. I usually have nine opponents set to random. I've been playing the Krynn. I maxxed out miniaturization, have built a hyperion shrinker, maxxed out hulls and maxxed out mass drivers. I cannot physically build a ship that will half kill a single Thalan ship that has close to 500 armor, and 700-800 in mass driver attack. This is a single Thalan ship, not a fleet I'm looking at. I'm missing something here....been only pl

The best way to defend against spore ships... is to have the spore ships!!! Try playing the Korath! <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_2 src="http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/877/toehm5.png" onload=ImageResizer.createOn(this)

Is there a defense against Spore Ships? Other than shooting the ships down before they arrive? I'm a NUBE Those ships are starting to get on my nerves LOL thanks

I lose all the time, that's what keeps me going back. Lost to an Iconian Cultural Victory last time. I like to keep all that turned on...pure military conquest gets on my nerves sometimes...LOL

The second game I played, I won a Tech Victory. The third and fourth games I got my rear end kicked all over the map Think I'll take the previous posters advice and kick grass early and often LOL

I'll get my 1st noob post over with right now. Yep, I've been running on about that much sleep lately...did a 14 hour stretch yesterday. Still need to figure a couple of things out. Played out Disciples II front, backwards and sideways off and on for the past few years and this is a great game to move over to. Many sleepless nights with DII also (looking forward to DIII)
