I am not the smartest person, but some of you guys need some oil 101 classes. My take on this, there is plenty of oil it will never be depleted just cost more to get. There are tons of alternative energy ideas but noone really bothered until now because gas is so cheap. Now that it isn't so cheap the scientists can make more money off those hybrid electric cars. You go to a dealership last year and you ask yourself is the extra 5k for a hybrid car really worth it? The proble

I know its close to the release but I'll post anyway. 1. Korath planetary improvement Dark Influence should cost triple the amount to build I've said this before. 2. Do we really need a personable robot presenting the research to us? Your 3d gif or image looks really cool. Why not just blow that up on the screen with the explanation underneath? 3. Being able to upgrade a ship in orbit around your planets with milary production. 4. A ship attack movie when

Not that I think you should change it before the release, because building those and flipping planets is a lot of fun I guess hehehe and I've never seen the AI build them to ruin the players fun so..... That planetary improvement for the Korath should probably cost double or triple the current cost to build though in my opinion.

I am sure Brad can take the heat. I would suggest to this Brad Developer to put a discription of %400 manufacturing, social, and research bonus to the description of suicidal then rather than making people guess what godlike intelligence AI means.........
On suicidal, the AIs get massive bonuses to economy, diplomacy, research, production, miniaturization and influence. There is a pretty harsh adjustment phase the first time (first few times probably) you play on suicidal. Personally, I got killed. With experience (and reading AARs from the game's masters such as Wyndstar, Purge and Mumblefratz), one learns the focused type of play needed to cope. The cumulative advantage gained by careful attention to all the small details becomes very i

I am not going to go through all that but I will add this I had all the galciv updated modules, blah blah blah It seems to appear when the Drengin Super Dominator ships show up though. I hope that helps.

I played all the tournaments over the weekend and can concur on crippling level to what you are saying. They didn't try to colonize and didn't try to to get the abundant anomalies which pretty much provide you with a huge advantage with money. However, on suicidal they colonized nabbed the resources but they still didn't survey the anomalies. I somehow still got my a$$ handed to me and decided to spy on them. How exactly do they get 600 maximum research points on a plane
There is strange bug going on that i notice especially with capital ships. If your ship gets "destroyed" with low lp but still survives due to higher attack, its hp will loop back around to around half its total. You can easily try this out by cheating. I first noticed something strange with a ~800 hp dreadnought. I attacked a planet when it was extremely close to dying and had its health returned almost to full after the attack. A bit counter-intuitive i think .
<br

So it wouldn't let me post in the beta section it said stardock forums down click here to go back or go to home page, so I am puting this here and someone can move it for me. In a couple of games that I have played recently I build a small ship with missile attack 75 (3 nightmare torpedos) my suicide ship if you will, and engage a ship with like 150 attack and no defenses and their hp jumps from 2 out 50 to like 16 out of 60? Sometimes they are not even the Arceans whi

I have the latest and greatest TA and its the same way to be honest. Its called the old suicide technique. If the enemy has a superior fleet you make small ships with all weapons and suicide them (getting first attack) into the big fleet destroying 1 of their ships at a time, if you can't build up enough weapons on a single ship to defeat one of their defenses on 1 of their single ships you need to make mediums or research higher weapons. Capital ships aren't really meant to

It most cases 3 people are going to benefit society more than 1 intelligent person. It is like in the 70's (before my time) when scientists said we were not going to have enough food to feed the growing population. The morons didn't account for the growing population producing more. If you truly think our society is becoming less educated than I think you need to look again. Less moral values I would agree with. Public schools concentrate too much on academics. Students should be required
While I do not advocate the killing of the stupid I do have a thoery I call "The Evolution of Stupid." Basically thousands of years ago there were many more things that could kill a person and usually the stupid ones died first. Allowing the intelligent to breed and advance the species. However as our technology advanced humans no longer succumbed to as many causes. Eventually we started developing technology and laws that protect the stupid from themselves. Invariably one stupid finds an
In my humble opinion, 1. I don't know how I feel about multiple constructor modules. I think it would be gimp (or too easy) to build a huge ship with 50 constructor modules and have a mega military starbase in 1 turn.too easy. You can do that now, with multiple ships, it's just an administrative PitA.
Meaning you need 50 colonies or 50 turns, and then you have to get them there to make 50 starbase modules. If y

In my humble opinion, 1. I don't know how I feel about multiple constructor modules. I think it would be gimp (or too easy) to build a huge ship with 50 constructor modules and have a mega military starbase in 1 turn. Micro manageing the constructors is boring I agree. But if you setup your rally points correctly its not too bad and a necessary evil to not make it fast or too easy. 2. Not sure what your talking about here. Why would you just be able to upgrade all offense a

It may not be the game but like I said I have never had any trouble before I started playing and seeing how it did the same thing twice it seems way too coincidental. I don't see how its possible the game caused this either. My professional opinion is that the game is running on my pentium 4 1.8 Ghz processor to the max on my computer which somehow is overloading my power supply. I have a weak 256mb geforce 5200 fx graphics card which doesn't even require a power plug into it. Only 6

Ya, make sure you guys send in your smart exception. I get a lot of random crashes when I hit the turn button. Sometimes I can reload and keep playing. Sometimes I get to a specific turn and no matter how often I reload it always crashes during that same turn. Those are the games I send my smart exception in and then later they tell me to send in my saved game for testing. I am a computer technician and I kid you not in the last month since I started playing my Twilight of the Arnor
2) How they research these deep techs is beyond my comprehension, as they are only generating research points from their homeworld. After building up enough espionage on them to examine their worlds, I found that they had only built Embassys. Despite the fact that the Thalans seem to have no other buildings than their Galactic Achievements, they are still able to research at a remarkable pace, and support a sizeable military, not to mention they invariably out-expand every

Thats interesting mumblefratz I never though of that. You could crank out at least 10 colony ships that way 1 per turn with 3k which is pretty good. And the anamolies giving you that extra bc does the rest for that year. Which tells us again how important snagging those anamolies are. I always play rare anamolies because its so gimp but they pop up so often in TA its still worth it to find them first. The all money approach is interesting as well. It seems like buying ships at 10k

Er so ya I split, Factories on big planets except maybe one big one with my tech capt, and research on small ones. The research is too slow if you go all factories and try to focus with TA. Sorry for the long winded post above.

With Twilight of the Arnor I am noticing that most of this game is all about money. Not only that but how much money you can save by buying factories, starports and building ships during the initial colony phase instead of buying them. I outlast the AI in the initial phase by doing this and still get high planet quality. Meaning I am still cranking out ships while the AI is trying to get their funds back to normal levels. Either way if you do Just ask yourself what good i

In Twilight of the Arnor I agree that espionage seems to be a waste of time unless your using it to nullify other agents. I used the Kryn consulate with max spy bonus, max spy tech (super spy planetary improvements) with constantly 2-3 agents on the yor collective and 10% espionage spending the whole game. Out of like 400 turns which I reached advanced in like 150 I stole 1 tech from them and that is it. Now maybe I crippled them from winning the game but I crippled myself as well b

Ya, the AI may not have the money to utilize those tiles but they should build the correct improvement anyway on them. I am assuming the AI knows how to turn up and down production compacity.

Just a heads up to anyone trying to use the new race Thalons on beta 4. You will want to either research at least %40 population bonuses from the tech tree before your initial money runs out or choose moral bonuses or pop bonuses for your initial picks when choosing your race. I ran out of money after initial colony phase and could not get back up to a producton level even with getting up to %5 pop bonuses after researching. Good work on planetary invasion screen and giving everyone a
