How would I go about getting a custom playable race? Unfortunately, I'm new to the modding scene, and I don't know much about it.

Actually, by "large group of people", I mean I'm playing this game for a forum full of people. The basic format is that it's going to be done in a series of screenshots. This is why I want some custom minor races, so that when, say, Shodan just "randomly shows up", it will break up the monotony of routine a bit. Basically, anything that will make the game more interesting, gimmicky, or otherwise provide nice breaks from the grind are what I'm looking for.

Ok, I'm in a bit of a situation here. I'm going to be playing this game for a reelatively large group of people pretty soon, and I've been trying to find various mods to help e along and make the playthrough more varied. So far, after searching through the Impulse library, all the ones that I find that look decent have either been abandoned or have been lost to the digital void and are undownloadable. If anyone can help me find some of these, I'd be very appreciative. Oh, be

Well, so much for res graphics. I found the graphics mod for DA(because I'm to poor to afford TA right now) here: http://www.i-mod-productions.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=56 However, you have to register with the site to download, and then it seems that the poeple who have downloaded it are complaining of a possibly broken installer and an adware virus in one of the folders. And all I w

I tend to pick Universalists because they compliment my custom race's abilities really well. Generally, my race tends to be extremely lucky, with high diplomatic skills, good research skills, and decent soldiering/merchantile skills, among others. This allows me to adapt to most situations quickly while using other races as a Human(Arcean, Yor, Alterian, what have you) Shield to block bad things until I can get situated. The fact that it just happens to be the "best" party to pick is coincidence

Personally, if I can't find a ship, I just go to that one screen that lists all your planets and ships and scroll through till I find the one I'm looking for. It might take a bit of time if I have a ton of ships, but it works for me. I never felt the need to use coordinates, as in a small galaxy, I'll memorize where everything is, and in a big one, I don't even bother to memorize more than the necessary areas, such as major production planets, or areas that I plan on invading.

[quote]I think the problem is simply that a description of the play style of an experienced player would be meaningless unless it was detailed enough to roughly imitate. Such descriptions usually take the form of After Action Reports, or AARs. There is a forum for such. I would recommend starting by searching for any posts made by Purge and Wyndstar. Those are two terribly strong players who have been very generous with their time and ideas. You could also go to the core, www.galacticcore.com, a

What? 24 hours and no one wants to say a single thing? And here I figured we could share strategies and come up with interesting ways of getting odd outcomes and such.

Everyone has one, and with a game as variable as this one, I'm sure there are quite a few out there. Since I couldn't find a thread like this on this board, let's hear about your play styles. To keep them easy to read, let's put them into a basic template. You don't have to do it if you don't want to, I suppose, but it would make it easier on the eyes as opposed to seeing walls of text. So, here's mine: Title: Smiling Bandit Description: Just smile at them, make

Yeah, normally when I play, I take to the strategy of "live and let live" untill something either threatens my civ or I know I can crush everyone. In a case like this, Ill bribe everyone I can to start a war with the effected civ, then join in and take as many planets as I can. There's something about letting the others do the dirty work of destroying all the enemy ships, only to have me sweep in and claim a rich, juicy planet for myself without immediately being put on their bad side

Yeah, I figured. I wish I could save up for a better one, but alas, bills and school come first. :( To be honest, the game ran fine while playing just regular old GalCiv2, it was only when I started playing DA that these issues popped up. It seems to run at a decent speed, though sometimes just the tiniest bit laggy, and it very haltingly plays movies, but hey, when it works, it works good enough for me to play a good game for hours on end. It's just getting it to start reliably that is

Well crap. I think that that is the last/latest driver version provided for this particular video card. I went to the Nvidia website and it didn't list a later version number to download. At least not that I could find anyway. I'll have to triple check tomorrow. I changed the resolution, which was probably set that way because I couldn't remember what it was at the time I first set it. As for the monitor driver, I have a laptop, and I'm moderately sure it doesn't require a seperate driv

Ok, you know what? Ignore the report I posted up there, apparently its months old for some reason. Heres the latest one, which will hopefully show the problem. I don't know if this kind of problem has its own thread, but if it does, or if it belongs in another section, then please tell me and I'll close down this one. I find that sometimes, more often than not, the game will completely crash and cause a "fatal error" with my video drivers and/or card upon loading a saved game. I'm not sure what causes this to happen, as sometimes the game will load fine. When it does happen, I will be able to start the program normally, get to the main menu,

well, ive experienced this problem as well on my old presario laptop, and i find that going into the menu and hitting "quick save" usually fixes the problem. regarding the site slowness, i get it intermittantly. sometimes the page will load quickly, other times it might take a minute. im not quite sure why...

i tried doing that, and everytime i tried to load a map i got a fatal error from my graphics drivers. restarting fixed it until i tried to load the map again. i re-enabled it and the problems back to square one.

hello, all. i recently downloaded DA and i find that i have this wierd problem. see, in GC2, everything seemed to work fine, except for a small video glitch that i fixed by turning of the anti-aliasing. however, in DA, i still have that problem even after turning off AA as well as not being able to see ship or starbase textures. they all appear as solid white outlines to me, with no visual anythings inside. im failry sure im running the latest version of GC2:DA, as i only downloaded it
