Since impulse Dragon Age is North America only, i cannot get it on impulse. But I sure aint paying 33% extra for it either.
Or you could buy it on Steam and pay _even more_. It still boggles my mind that they think it should cost more to buy a game online than in a store.

Me, I bought it on Steam as Impulse is NA-only I would have done the same, except Steam wants €50. They're just too expensive to consider anymore after they changed from $ to € at 1:1 conversion ratio (or rather, the publishers are keeping that default). I bought a lot of games via Steam prior to this change, zero after. But I suppose the publishers have done their price elasticity calculations and my spending habits are in the minority.
You could always move to the United States Technically.. But on a list of countries I'd want to live in, it's pretty far down. Back to the point. No matter your territory, there will always be titles not available to you via Impulse. And yet it happily tells you hurry up and buy it, only to change its mind once you go to your cart. Stardock seems to take pride in being consumer friendly. This isn't. Fix it.
Come on, Stardock. I beg you guys, _stop_ showing advertisments for games not available in my region. I've lost track of the amount of times I've seen a special offer, excitedly clicking it, only to be told it's not available in my region. It's extremely bloody annoying, and the system obviously knows exactly where I am so it shouldn't be a big deal to at least give us an option to only show games for our region.
Strangely enough, I actually got Trine for the USD price, even though lately I've been starting to see a lot of the dreaded Euro pricing on Impulse as well. Perhaps they recently discovered Norway is not a EU member and changed it for us? Not that I really care about the currency, but I do care about the 1:1 USD-EUR conversion ratio that has become the trend among game publishers. As for taking it up with the publisher, I don't see why we shouldn't let Stardock know. I
I, for one, have no plans to go back to Vista (or XP, gawd forbid...)
Given the choice between Vista and XP, I'd pick XP any day of the week. Win7 is showing promise though. I'll likely use that unless they somehow manage to completely mess it up between now and release. Vista marks the only MS OS I've completely skipped since 3.0 or so. Well, not counting Me, but I don't think even Microsoft counts that one.
Don't know if anybody's reading this, but the latest update (96.040, would be nice to have a history entry for it. Missing history entries seems to be quite common on Impulse in general, by the way) fixed the wallpaper issue for me. THANK YOU. I've been missing wallpaper control so badly. Only thing remaining on my wish-list now is Fences handling resolution dependent icon positions for all icons, not just the ones inside a fence. If it's not already there, that is, haven't tested in
Adding a "Windows XP 32 bit only" disclaimer to the requirements on the product page might be an idea. In general, going through your applications and discerning between 32bit and 64bit would be nice. Some places it specifies it, others it just says "XP and Vista". Impulse doesn't distinguish it either. It'll happily install Deskscapes on XP64, and it doesn't crash, but neither does it work and there's no indication of why.
"On XP, multi-monitor-spanning wallpapers are now support (for improved ultramon/displayfusion comptiability)" [sic] I see no difference on my XP x64 compared to the previous version. Is there a trick to it? Oh wait.. I'm using a _different_ wallpaper on each, not a big one that spans both. That could be it I guess. Since I have different resolutions on my monitors a single big wallpaper hasn't made any sense to me.
This might have been worth a purchase (assuming it gets a stand alone release at some point), if it weren't for the inability to search for *only* dynamic dreams (as in not a video loop). I did some testing on a Vista machine and I absolutely hated everything except dynamic dreams. And I was only able to find one of those (Ovals).
Two monitors. Primary 1920x1080, Secondary to the right of Primary at 1680x1050. Setting wallpaper on secondary monitor to something different than primary is overridden when Fences starts. It sets secondary wallpaper to the same image and settings as on primary. The wallpaper stays correct on boot until Fences is started, and likewise reverts to my settings when Fences is closed when rebooting. As far as icons are concerned, I only have icons on my primary monitor, an
1. This has been mentioned a few times. Fences overrides wallpaper selection on secondary monitor. 2. Fences does not handle resolution dependent icon positions for icons not inside fences. To make it worse, it will not allow any other application to do it either. If I try to restore icon positions using another application, Fences moves those icons back to the wrong position the second I click the desktop. Ideally, Fences would handle icon positions for all icons, not
All in all, brilliant idea and for a beta I'd say it's pretty solid. A few points I'd like to mention. Issue One: Not sure what to categorize this as (incompatability with another program, probably), but hopefully something can be done about it. I have a dual monitor machine with different resolutions on the monitors. Thus I have separate wallpapers on each monitor, and different settings (center on one, stretch on the other). Fences overrides this when it
(I hope this doesn't get double posted. First time around nothing happened when I clicked add comment) DRM is not copy protection, it's restrictions imposed on your customers. Technically speaking, I accept no DRM. But there is one exception. I accept activation given some requirements being met. 1. I bought the product from an online service (activation of a boxed product is unacceptable). When buying online I accept the fact "buy" is in reali
Since the thread notification reminded me of this topic, any chance of a fix for WB not honoring the "I do not want to use any system fonts defined by this skin" selection? Or an explanation of what that checkbox is meant to do since it doesn't prevent the skin from changing the system fonts? While on the topic, the overrides seem a bit iffy in general. If I select a particular application and tell it to not skin it at all, that works fine. However, if I choose "only skin this
Sorry, forgot to mention I tried that too. The font the skin picks is inherently much wider than the regular font. The result is that when shrinking it down to a comparable size in width, it becomes pretty much unreadable.
I rather love the new Molten skin, but it messes around with my fonts. So I try the "I do not want to use any system fonts defined by this skin". This has no discernible effect. The problem is that the font settings it switches to are so big labels no longer fit on tabs, installation instructions gets lost as there's not enough room in the dialog windows etc. I just want the skin to NOT mess with my fonts in any way. Is there an option I'm missing, or is the before mentioned o
Try V and B. Or was it B and N. They were zoom keys by default when I installed. It's not terribly convenient, but workable.
I wish what you're saying was true. That people would forget about stores and buy online instead. Unfortunately, what's upsetting stores isn't that they'd lose all sales, it's that they'd lose some. If every potential buyer would buy online instead if download prices were lower, the stores would have zero leverage to demand anything. I'll cheer the day when we no longer need the middle men of the games/music/movie industry and can put all our cash right to the source. Thankfull
Same thing on my laptop. I think the software for the glide pad enables the scroll area depending on what sort of window is active. I've experienced non-game applications as well that don't scroll using it, presumably because it is unable to recognize the window has having a scroll bar. Might be configurable, I haven't looked real hard. And obviously it will vary from laptop to laptop.
And game development costs is ever increasing, so I couldn't disagree more with the permanent discount. I remember reading an interview with Gabe at Valve about Steam earnings. He stated that they got several times the amount of cash back on a purchase made via Steam as opposed to if someone bought the same game retail. Let's imagine a $40 game that gives the actual creators $5 back per box sold (wouldn't be surprised if that's a generous estimate),
My first thought was "oooh that looks very BSG". I won't tell you how much I love the scene where the defensive barrage opens up at the end of the BSG mini series. I've only had time to play an hour or two so far, but I agree this would be a great change. Another thing combat sorely needs is movement. So far the only thing I've seen moving is fighters. Everything else just moves into position then stands still exchanging shots. While capital ships are clearly not fighters, just
I'll venture a guess. - Archive on current computer - Copy backup folder to external drive - Install SDC on new computer - (Optional) Copy archive folder from external drive to the same subfolder under SDC as you originally copied from - Start SDC and right click to restore and pick the archive (if you did previous step) or click browse to locate the backup archive on your external drive. As I said, I'm guessing. Wait for official response unless you are able to
Hope this isn't asked on a weekly basis. I did some searches but so little turned up I'm suspecting I picked horrible search terms. Anyways, I recently invested in a laptop and installed SDC and through it GalCivII (incl. DA). Then I realized I had forgotten to change the GalCivII installation path to my data drive prior to installation. I could uninstall and redownload/install, of course. But that seems a waste of your bandwidth to say the least. I also read that I could make
