Stardock invalid serial number in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

Hi I've bought GC2 Endless Universe (pre owned). However stardock is refusing to recognize the serial number. Therefore I can't download the 2.03 patch. Any ideas? or is it a case of it's been registered once on an e-mail address so that's it I can't download the patches via stardock.
