I had some sticky problems involving lockups and sound distortions. I'm running Vista with nVidia graphics. With the stress of these posts upon updating drivers, I attempted to update my graphics driver- even though it was pretty new- and it was a difficult process- kicked me back to a Microsoft driver that was SUPPOSED TO BE CURRENT. Finally, I got my computer manufacturer's support to install the new Beta driver from nVidia, and, no more lockups or sound distortions.

I have updated audio driver- still have issues. Went to nVidia for their driver. Windows wouldnt allow me to install it- screen says, You have the latest driver. Updated that online through Control Panel. driver for nVidia7300 Microsoft WDDM version 7.15.10.9746. Game still locks up as before. What about this "___ counts left" at end of debug? and the pervasive "error flipping back buffer" thing?

I'm a newcomer to the game. Just when I get into the game a bit (GC2) it will sometimes (sort of) lock-- I can move the cursor, but clicking anything has no effect. The music continues to play, but that's it. Also having some sound distortions in certain spots (not all the time). Tutorials are always somewhat sound-distorted. I have 32-bit Vista, updated video drivers, recent sound driver. Intel 2 core 1.86 ghz. Sigmatel high definition audio CODEC. Anything sound familiar?
