Back with the original Object Dock Plus, I found that it didn't display icons correctly, showing some OK but others as a little speck. now I am running 2.0, and when I got a new display and set my "DPI" settings to something other than the default, the problem showed up again. Half my dock icons are unreadable, or at least very very tiny. The others are OK. A few years ago I posted a work-around, on exporting the resource and setting the resulting file as the i

I've complained that some program icons don't read properly under Vista (I think it's a vista problem, because I never had had the problem under XP) and asked for an explaination, fix, or work-around to no avail and no sympathy. They expect us to find a 3rd party fancy icon instead or draw something from scratch. However, the application files contain very good XP or Vista icons already, and the customize web site don't give simple icons for those apps. So I finally got around
(as in the other post)I'd suggest you get new icons for those apps from the galleries at WC or request new ones be made. OD Icon galleryRare Icon request
Hmm, The icons exist in the app, it's just that OD can't read them properly. How about someone post instructions on how to extract the icons using a tool that can read them, and save them in a format that OD don't have problems with? This could be automated as a work-around.
I'm having the same problems, with my Tabbed Docks. Notepad++ is one of those I have, too. Also Unipad, Babel Pad, and Babel Map, WinDirStat, Registry Workshop, Celestia, MAME32UI --John
It depends on the time frame, and the price, and on whether I'm interested in the new features or just the bug fixes.
The icons show fine, for the same EXE files, under XP. It has a problem with Vista, extracting icons from some programs. "Stardock created and included some hi-res icons for some standard apps. That is what you are seeing [in Microsoft's Explorer windows]. They are in the icon library. " No, I'm not seeing the Stardock-created icons for these. On my old XP, I can "browse" and choose the EXE, see the icon for it, and it works. Now on Vista, with the same EXE, I choose the i
I want to use O.D. on my Vista laptop because the Start menu is rather poor. I like what it can do for me. But there are two main problems. First, some programs have very very tiny icons. Other programs, like Explorer, have no problem showing full-sized icons where needed, so they are in there somewhere! The last advice was "find another icon". Well, when selected in Explorer I see a full-sized high-res icon in the info bar area, so where is that coming from
Anybody? Please help.
Setting up my tabbed dock on Vista, some of the shortcuts worked fine, but some of them show very tiny and are hardly more then specks. What's wrong? --John
What is the current version? I'm still running 1.90 build 535u, nearly a year old. I'm moving all my stuff from my desktop machine to a portable Vista notebook as I will be travelling a lot. The Vista "all programs" Start menu is worse then XP's! I'm hoping OD+ will help, but I want to make sure I have the latest version that deals with Vista, and fixes problems. I'm also wondering about new features. It seems that something that works with the Sidebar would be
First of all, In OD+ 1.9, I can drag an item from one area to another. But how do I duplicate it, so it can appear filed in more than one place? For example, an editor that appears both under "Development" and "Text". I've tried the usual ways, and nothing works. This is on a different machine than the one I originally tried to use it on, BTW. Dragging shortcuts onto the tabbed dock seems to do different things different times. It may copy the launch infor
I've had nothing but problems with ObjectDock. I've also had no help, posting in the move-visible Docks forum. 1) dragging things from the quick-launch bar to a tabbed dock sometimes works, more often doesn't do anything. Doing it manually via "create new shortcut" crashes OD+. Original report at this posting. 2) on that machine, it crashes rather than letting me configure it. So, I can't use it! I tried
I put several posts on the "\OS Customization\Docks" forum here. I just noticed this section existed when doing searches, so I thought I would mention it here in case this is where the support people hang out.

Arranging things on a tabbed dock (I'm trying on a different computer), I removed some things with the "delete" menu item. That didn't make the icon go away, but the icon's right-click menu now only has three items, one of which is the "Remove Item". A few minutes later, I found out the difference: I dragged the OpenOffice submenu (a folder shortcut) from the start menu, and found it didn't have the fancy flyout. So I created a new cutom menu and set it to the same folde
More more info: So I try and do it the hard way. I right-click and "Create new shortcut item". Properties dialog box appears. I paste "C:\Program Files\4nt\4nt.exe" (with quotes) into the Link line, and OD+ crashes.
More info: Most of them don't work, in that they will not drag onto the tabbed dock.
I'm populating a tabbed dock by dragging things from my regular "quick launch" area. The first one I tried did not work! Others did, so something funny here. This is a shortcut for the 4NT command prompt. I can drag it to the desktop, so it's not the shortcut itself refusing to copy. Target: "C:\Program Files\4nt\4nt.exe". All the options are default except under "Layout" I maxed out the screen buffer height to 999. No error message. It sets up f
After rebooting, it shows up. But the flyout menus crash.
I don't see the "label" appear when I mouse-over the tabbed dock after installing. I checked the settings and turned the effect off and on. Labels show up when I change to show below, so it knows what they should say.
I second that. I'd like to have a full replacement for the Windows task bar.
Yes. That'd be a very nice feature. Maybe a list of apps that will hide it if they are run? I saw something like that in docklets, for 3D games that interfered with the dock.
Go back to reply #1. Go to that link. Read up on the part concerning docks. All of a sudden it will all be very clear and easy. Here's an idea: Have an "F1" keypress take you to that page. Right now it does nothing.
When I turn on Window Blinds, the text in the right-hand pane of Explorer looks crunched. I tried changing the font name/size to something else and back again. I unloaded Window Blinds, and that window looks right, with the font setting unchanged (Tahoma 8). I have screen shots, if you tell me who to email them too. What's wrong? --John
