I was concidering joining the beta the past few days, but now I think I'll wait to see what they can do to improve the AI and how much more aggressive they can make it. Also, I care more about the single player than the multiplayer. Don't even know if I'll ever want to play a multiplayer game like this. So the AI has to be clever. Thanks Aaron

Thanks for the run down Aaron. I was just at the site as I've been visiting it since I was email an offer to try the beta a few months ago. But what I recently read is that the AI is non aggressive and the ships are kind of valueless, that they don't have their own special abilities and unique uses. Is this true? AI is like the most important element in a game to me as well as unite balance, specific role and usefulness.
why would it be taking over? Well it being a 4x space strategy game by stardock. But maybe you're right maybe they are just offering another, an alternative, to consult other taste, for those who want RT and mulitiplayer. I knew it had a different story and engine, but other than that how else is it different does it still have you building ships?
Will this game, in development, "sins of the solar empire", published by stardock, be taking over the Gallictic civ II series? Yes it is different in some ways but RT is more popular and modern also it has more detail graphics and mulitplayer which a lot of people want. I am not say I want this game to replace GCII, on the contrary but what do you think.
Do, I need to create my own fighter ships in order to effectively win battles. It seems very tedious; maybe someone here could give me some advise. I can't seem to put much on my ships and attaching engines, weapons, pods and shields is very frustrating just trying to get these components to stick to the little red arrows, they don't seem to want to go there-which is why I hesitate making ships even when I have the weapons and engines researched. Any way to make it easier witho
Thanks, everyone, I see a lot of good experienced advise here all of which I will definitely keep in mind and experiment with. And yeah, I just kept all those Galaxy settings on default: habitable worlds is on occasional-jeez why didn't I notice this! But isn't it all relative? The Galaxy being set this way all other colonies are likewise going to find habitable planets scarce as well. Glad to read that its not all that unusual to be listed as one of the bottom three in th
Oh, and did I forget to mention: I always start by building at least 3 factories (usually 4) for production on my starting planets. So no need to tell me this, I've read it enough times.

Thank you for the advice Pitsnipe. I will give your more information about my settings but for now its just normal difficulty and 6 opponent colonies with me as Terran. I know about choosing to research weapons the enemy doesn't have and making sure I have defense shields with points high enough to protect me from the hit points of their weapons. But I'm also concerned with researching as quickly as possible the most powerful weapons I can and planetary invasion. Yeah,
Hello all this is my first post; though I've been coming here for about 6 months now just to read some of the post to get an idea what this game is all about and read about what strategies are being used. I play this game every now and then and usually even just on normal and always abandon each game after a night or two..or sometimes three. It's just that I see how far behind I am and don't want to do much more work micro managing and expanding only to find I'm too far behind and it i
