Strato84
Surely after Demigod the Stardock team would be apphrehensive to tinker around with a massive multiplayer set up, at least in the short term
the MV has apparently started its period. march, april now may. can't log in. is it just me? or does someone need to knock this bitch up?
10/10 for the analogy. That made me laugh.
Yeah, I had the Torians sandwiched in between myself and the Thalans, and the Torians should have been removed, but the danger was the other races declaring war on me while I mop up the Torians. I built a starbase above them to extend my range, but too little too late in effect. The thing is though, with my espionage spending, it wouldn't have made much of a difference, I found out my worlds were fairly safe from attack because most of the opponents had only a small handful of attacking craft
I found the asteroids useful for those lower quality planets to get the production of buildings out. At the start for instance, if I have a class 6 planet, I've got five squares to use, which typically means a farm, plus economic centres to make the planet a small part of the economy that is gradually turning over. No room for factories, generally not much money for rush buying, but redirect a few asteroids and I suddenly have a planet with its own factory working away. <p
Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm a little out of practice with Gal Civ II, still trying to find my way around with twilight. All in good time I guess, just need to push some of the aggro that sits in my ship design and naming, and apply against the other races in the game. From here on in, (after I got myself smashed with a tech victory) I'm just going pure evil. I hope the fanged god will find me worthy, or else, I expect I'll be devoured by you guys in no time [e digicons]:omg
Yes, it certainly is the Tir-Quan training centre. Perhaps I am showing my noobishness here, but I always believed that it was a useful achievement to develop, but in this case, it was already built for me. So, what did I do? Turns out I got an event which increases tourist income 5 times the usual amount, so in effect, I was gushing cash, which mean research labs were laid down. As I played this game tonight, I screwed myself over pretty bad. Thalans won by tech
What do I do? I think I remember seeing a thread somewhere around where someone had a similar 'problem' To give some insight into how I got such a high quality planet, it was originally something like a class 16 planet, which then got, not one, but two events in fairly rapid succession where my people discover an Arnor artefact, or something like that, which doubles the planet quality. Once my weather zenith is built, it goes to class 65. So far,
I just play this game because I: 1. Enjoy it 2. Get a nice bit of satisfaction when the AI takes me by suprise, and in a fit of rage build the biggest, ship I can, with the most superfluous number of extra components, and label it with names that would make my own mother cringe. Posting to the metaverse is a bonus when I do it because I can have a long term tracking of my scores, even though I just cleared them to normalise
Hit the find button, then move any ships that have left over movement points. Also, after disabling those options, restart the game and reload, possibly from an earlier autosave if possible. What sort of map is it, ie: gigantic, immense etc. Do you expect there to be a lot of starships present?
It is still playable... I'd imagine the pathfinding is killing it, in part I'd say due to a large galaxy with an incredible number of starships and the AI is trying to move them all, or it is getting lost moving yours. What worked for me was to disable "Force AI to use Max CPU" and enable "Skip Moves Left Over From Autopilot." From there, hit the find button, it is possible there could be a few craft with outstanding turns then need to either be s
We have a store here called JB Hi-Fi. Its all electronics/movies/music/computing and gaming. They are a one stop shop for me for just about everything i need. If they sold food and petrol i'd buy them there too.
Amen to that Anyway, while the metaverse has been down, I've been stuffing around playing a gigantic map as the Arceans, getting an idea of how they play. I must say it has been incredibly enjoyable too, especiall
I'm a little suprised people want to hear from Mr Wardell these days. To be honest, I like having Kryo as the voice of reason and wisdom. I can understand people have this 'connection' with Brad because of the way he operates Stardock by interfacing with the paying customers and I guess it is inherent in human nature to expect more. However, do the likes of Sid Meier talk to the gaming public; consider when it took as long as it did for the latest update to Civ IV Beyond the Sword, or Coloniz
(you wont get it unless you've seen the movie.)
Does that word not cause you great pain and agony [e digicons]O:)[/e]
It may seem lame, however, think of it like you. You have a planet like Earth. Now, on this planet, there are 40 billion people, rather than the 7?8? billion people on here currently. Could you imagine the commute to work each day in your hovercar? But really, the idea of having a population cap is because people get unhappy when there are too many people.
Sign of things to come folks. You have to look a long way down Stardock's list of Importance to find GC2 . And wait till Elemental is released........
That's a little bit rough don't you think? Like anyone here, I do want the metaverse back up, especially seeing as I've just gotten back into the game again, however that's just bad timing on my behalf. Anyway, I believe Stardock were going to have another update for Gal Civ II in
I have the AI build defenses on their ships. I do play challenging/tough, with "Force AI to use max CPU" enabled. Just the last game I played, the AI managed to counter my ships using lasers with the deflectors.Or, are you talking about later in the game, with larger vessels that are essentially all attack?
Oh and one more thing. It would be awesome if self proclaimed "good" civilizations actually stood up for the weaker civs in sandbox mode instead of having low relationships
Still nothing :(
It would be nice to see what the UP vote would be before actually going into it. Sometimes in my bigger game, I lose track with what may be going on, paticularly with how some options may in fact benefit one AI or another. It would be nice also if there was a limited diplo option so that the player can ask others to vote for one paticular option or another. Of course, I'm only playing DA at the moment, so I'm not sure what has been changed with the latest expansion.
So, could the game would in fact be "easier" potentially by having the basic AI opponents without spent ability points? Or alternately, some with points spent, some without. I kinda hope this gets looked at in TA. By the way, I always assumed the AI would allocate ability points at the start of the game based on their difficulty rating. I'm a little disappointed now.
By symbols, I presume you mean medals. Play a game through the metaverse, post a score, and you will get the medals with a character you create. Make sure with your character it is set to "default" in order for them to appear. Here is a link with the medals http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=legend (The page hasn't been update for DA). Also, there are other posts out there which explain how to get various medals. Just don't remember where.
No worries. Started a new game, played a few turns, retired, started a new game, and then it died. I do have hard drive activity in the background when it happens, but Ctrl-Alt Del is the only way to get anywhere. Oh, I hope this helps with any future developments, like I said, I'm not too worried, just restart and off I go again... Such is life :) Anyway, here goes: Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_gdr.070828-1515
I think I have the same problem. The game simply freezes, and when I finally get back to Windows after Ctrl-Alt-Del, it appears to be a video driver problem, at least, that's what the windows box will pop up and tell me, something like the video card driver stopped encountered a problem but managed to recover. I'm using a NVidia 7600 on a laptop myself. Doesn't really bother me though, I just start the game and get back into it. Thankfully Gal Civ II doesn't have huge loading times, an
I tend to play with clustered star systems, send out a few ships to a cluster and aim straight for the stars, which tell me whether there are any habitable planets around. If I find one with PQ4, then ok, it will need some work, but after soil enhancement etc, they can become fairly good planets to use. I think in one game I had a PQ4 planet go up to PQ12 after improvements. Normally with the smaller planets initially, I'll just have to rush buy things I need - they either get all research or al
I do empathise. I have had a few little problems myself with the metaverse, (error 12) which I'm in the process of working out... hopefully. Going to have to try with a duel map soon and see how it all goes. Sure, a break may be good, but don't forget the best way to solve a problem is to not give up. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
