The competeing theory for the big bang was steady state and not necessarily creationism. Steady state said the the universe is the same now as it always was and as it always will be, in its nature that is, things move of course and stars go nova etc. but its not getting any bigger or smaller. I just always saw the big bang as being evidence of creation and not a contradiction of it. That is that there was nothing and then there was something. That there WAS a begining to everything that

Weill it IS true that population doesn't add to production. However, every world has tax paying population so in effect they can all be money worlds of some sort just by adding a farm. A single farm fully upgraded will give a popuklation of 13b, adding a lot to the income of that planet. Also, having more people on pl;anets is good against invasions as well as adding to your influence inthe area. You may want more people on production planets to fill transports, i try not to take people

The answer as to "why" is simply that the game would not work right if you could just buy ships for 300 bc.

6 Replies 6,607 Views

As a test, you may want to give a ship or so to the race they are fighting just to see if they can get the ships to engage. You don't have to save it when you do this, but just see what happens. Keep in mind though, what the AI does whith ships it gets can be hard to predict; they may just keep them in one place. Also, i never really use sentry, but I don't think it will get your ships to challenge the AI or anything, but it just wakes them up from a guard position when a

Spies are rounded up and executed. I always thought that the race surrendered to should get the cash. But I guess the surrendering leader needs all that money to get away and reire comfortably somewhere. Also, in DA you do get to keep structures you don't have the tech for but you will not be able to queue up any new ones until you get the tech. In my last game i was neutral but wound up with the MCC, OSC and the free invasion structure from the Drengin;
I have a feeling you are confusing pre-defined Abilities with the usual remaining customization points. Which can always alter some values at runtime, no matter what is in the RC or the auto-saved version(s). Right?
Right, except I'd say that it was you who was confusing the abilities I was asking about. [e digicons];P[/e] I was in fact asking about the left pver ability points. That is, I wanted to know if the AI used the abilities I chose

Ok, but not talking about custom races, just the regular stock races. I notice that when i set up a new game, any race i previously used still has the abilities set to what I used for them. My question is, does the AI use these abilities or does it choose its own each game? If its the first one, would you have to reset the abilities to make the AI pick its own?

6 Replies 6,336 Views

Another quick question: When the AI picks abilities at the start of the game, does any abilities you chose for that race when you played AS THEM have any effect? I was asking because I saw a thread where something was said about picking abilities for AI opponents and didn't knbow if that what was meant.

I really never build military starbases, but in my last game i had tons of ships left over fot the mop up and decided to just lump them around a military starbase or 2. I was debating on whether I should keep certain ships in orbit for the 20% weapons boost or let them get the bonus from the starbase by launching them and sendingthem over. Then I noticed that the ships in orbit of the planets withinthe radius of influence of the starbase also got the bonus. Is this normal? I was

I have never really used screen shots but I think maybe DA was changed some time ago to allow for the easier (non prnt scrn) way of making screen shots. My problem is getting the shots from imageshack to these forums. I just can't seem to get them to work at all.

Surrenders have to be something random. They can not be just to allies, or enemies; not to the strongst or most diplomatic. If there were a way to predict when and to whom a surrender would take place, players would then do X and Y to make sure the AI surrendered to them every single time. The new tactic would be to start wars and put yourself in the position to reap all of the surrenders. If you don't like the way surrenders happen or just don't want them at all.... turn them off.</p
Stacking defenders on top of the SB is more effective if you want to protect it.
Yea i know, i don't give starbases any more than a token offence, if any. But near the later portions of the game when all of my many asteroid mining ships have noting left to do, i might change them to constructors. I'd add them to extisting starbases if I thought it would do me any good, but as SS informed me with his simple answer was that it will not. Of course I can think of a few othe

Just curious since I've never thought of this before or ever seen a thread on it; do starbases with weapons and defence count as ships when it comes to your military rating / score?
That's not true at all. Just because scientists disagree about something doesn't mean that your average joe who has read up on the subject has just as valid an opinion as any of those scientists. Particle physicists disagree about whether or not the Higgs Boson actually exists; does that mean that some random person off the street who has 'read up' on it will have just as valid an opinion? No - not unless he just self-taught himself extremely complex physics and math, anyway. I'm hopin

I only get to tiny ships in the late game when i have other ships to fleet with them and enough miniturization to make them something to fear. When you are fighting enemy ships with, say, 500+ attack, a tiny is the same as a small and maybe even a medium, except for some additional firepower. That is, they don't have enough hit[oints or defences to survive. I bascally use tinies in fleets to give a good punch and take a hit for a larger ship. Maybe I'm mean for using them as shie

Could it be, not so much the difficulty level but the "maximum CPU" ? You really shouldn't see THAT much of a difference in the AI going up just one level, no matter what that level is. Could it just be the Race of the opponet you are playing against? Some are more aggresive than others go right for weapons. It depends on what you mean by getting you behind handed to you. Is that in military and research and colonies etc. ? Or just in one area. It all difficulty levels

The green resources that you mine will give the bonus to your economy as a whole. I'm not sure what exactly gets the bonus though. Economic starbases will give a boost to trade routes that travel through their area of influence, if they have the trade boosting modules. What I use the economic starbases for is the added bonuses to social, military and research on planets in their area. I like to have at least one covering most of my planets. Only lone isolated planets won't get

Yea they put their state close to where he lives so he'd have a company there. Way to beat out the competition. As a disclaimer: I have no idea whatsoever where he lives, just making a joke.

It also has to do with your own preference to managing morale. With someplanets having much higher populations than others, setting a tax rate that will keep thoise people happy without losing money on the smaller population worlds can be a pain. Personally I like to have all of my planets at the same max population and therefore about the same in morale when they near the maximum. \ So if I have one farm per planet and max out at 13 billion (non home wprlds of course) I can set the t
