You only need the one serial number with the Gold Edition. It will work for both GC2 and Dark Avatar. Except you can't post to MetaVerse

I'm confused... Let me explain: I have GalCivII Gold edition. In SDC's registration info and in the "Update serial" dialog in the DA launcher, the serial is the one in the original confirmation mail - it's made up of 6 groups of 5 characters separated by hyphens. Looking here under my account/registration I see a serial 28 characters long. Also if I use the "Lookup serial" function in SDC I get emailed a 28 character long serial. If I try to use that serial in "Update serial"

I updated through StarDock Central - in addition to the DA update there were also an DL update dated February 4. Can't remember the exact version numbers except it went from ...90 to ...94. Why haven't I seen this before (considering the date) ? Did anyone else get it? Also it installed the DA update and then the DL update. Could that be a problem (some core file from an older version overwriting a file from the newer version) ?

could you tell me why the registration number under my account/registration doesn't match the one with which I have installed the game and recieved in my verification mail? I have the exact same problem. In fact, each time I look under my account/registration, there is a new serial (as I recall the serials did match each other some days ago).
