Influence victory is a bit harder than military conquest, since you will need to have a strong military power to keep the other empires from attacking you while you flip their planets (this doesn't mean you need ships that can fight their fleets easily, just that you need a higher military rating so other empires are afraid of declaring war on you). The effect of influence starbases decrease over distance, so the best thing to do is set them up right near enemy planets.

I hope it feels more like the old SimCity and not the 4th game. I don't know why, but that one always spiralled down to boredom for me. Possibly because you can only improve a region so much, and then you have to set up about 15 more regions to improve your original region further.
I sense some other dark power is at work here. Starforce is the ultimate over-protective software ****ing up program out there, while Stardock is the company that stands for the exact opposite, no piracy protection except a damn good technical support offered to customers. I tell you, there's something sinister going on, this can't be coincedence.
So, if we build up to a perfect human model, genetically, isn't that counter-evolutionary? I mean, a virus could find a weak spot in that perfect genome, and wipe out humanity. The best viruses are not the perfect ones, they are the imperfect ones that actually have flaws in their replication systems and thus keep changing their genome with every generation.
In MOO3 we just have a tiled view of the planet and the attacking side's colour advanced over the defending side's colour depending on the success of the invasion and how much of the planet they conquered. I think even putting goofy animations beats that. Ofc, in MOO3, ground combat was a bit more detailed, technically.
You can always zoom out to the iconic view when something annoying like this happens. But yea, I think stardock can give us a solution to the problem in the future. Maybe an option where you can limit the number of ships shown on a single tile when they are all stacked on top of each other?
More likely leaving no tip at all.
Well, both kinds of surrender are actually logical. If your enemy is attacking you for land or something similar, and not really on the path to genocide, you might find it in your best interest to surrender to your enemy to prevent further bloodshed (and the massacre of your people). If your enemy is actually on a warpath to destroy your entire race (as in the case of Korath), or you can't even imagine living under their rule of your enemy (dunno, Drenging conquering Altarians maybe?),
i was pretty sure we came to the conclusion that kyro is an AI! Does that diminish our love, or multipy it?
Although I don't ask questions requiring your help around here, I almost always see your helpful responses and geniune support for the customers. Even as an observer, I appriciate your help around the forums, and feel like giving you hugs and kisses for all the good work you do around here (ok the end sounded gay, scratch that). Keep up the excellent work, I love it!!
I'm pretty sure it's quite possible and I actually believe Stardock will (one day in the future) have everything customizable with a button or a slider of some sort.
1. I wish starbases built on galactic resources had influence points of their own so a player would be able to win them over culturally, even if it required a lot of influence in the area to do so. 2. I wish minor races would recognise the closest powerful empire to them and pay tribute to the said empire for protection if the said empire is good, increase tourism income if the said empire is neutral, and lastly, increase production if said empire is evil. 3. I wish there was a
Yes there's no toggle, but has anyone checked if there's a conquest slider? Ok I'm sorry, there's just not many things you can do with this material. Shoot me.
Your colonisation abilities don't affect how you view PQ, you probably had a bad pick of aquatic worlds on your game. I think the asteroid events specifically target PQ0 planets, but I can't swear by that (I never had one of my planets blow up though).
Hmm, I don't usually go below 1k bc, here's how I do it (playing tough): -Don't develop newly colonized planets until I'm getting positive cashflow. They'll drain the bcs I need for my homeworld factories building colony ships. -Try to keep 100% approval as long as possible at the beginning, especially at homeworld if nowhere else. I don't even drop below 75% approval. -Research xeno entertainment early, because +15 morale is a lot for such an early tech. -All
I find the ethical choices in RL much more interesting. Say, this one: "You're in the middle of a game and your girlfriend calls asking what you want to do over the weekend. What do you tell her?" Good: Tell her it's a surprise. Get flowers, book reservations at a nice restaurant, go to the state fair on Saturday. Neutral: Go to dinner and a movie on Friday, but you would like a block of time on Saturday to yo
The galactic wonder is the only feasible option in my opinion. Failing that, possibly the best option is to decrease the effects of your freighters getting ripped apart by more income from taxes and higher diplomatic relations. Because they will get ripped apart. As soon as a pirate event or the first war.
I usually turn tech trading off, because I'll abuse it far beyond the AI's capabilities if it's there. In retrospect, I think I should mod the diplomatical races to compensate for that loss by giving them a research boost... Hmmm
I think the focus here was genocide, rather than making use of people On another note, I never build a farm on my homeworld. That's just asking for trouble.
I turn off every victory condition (so I play with conquest) but I almost always conquer through influence.
I play on tough, medium maps with 3 AIs. At tough all the AIs should get intelligent, which is the last difficulty level before they start getting econ&production bonuses. I turn off tech trading, all the optional victory conditions and most stuff to common (anomalies and asteroids are abundant). My main trick is over-colonising (as much as I can) without actually developing these news colonies until after I get some cash flow. Oh, I also use diplomacy and spin control center to stay ou
I feel Drengin are more bravado than a threat. If they can declare early wars and gobble up a few planets, they can survive, if not, I think their economy rips them apart. The Korath have better empires overall compared to the Drengin, they seem to have a stronger economy and can actually support their wars. They are usually the military leader (after me) in my games. Thalans almost always tend to expand a lot and somehow support that with some economy and military. They will a
I play on tough as such (it may sound crazy, but I'm used to it): -Whatever race I'm playing with, I always pick +2 speed, and more sensor range if I can. I know, I should be picking more useful stuff like econ and morale and production, but I'm used to the speed and the sensor range (and tbh, with this setup, that initial anomaly flagship is much more useful). -My initial colony will build all out factories and 1 entertainment building, I may also reserve 1 tile for a manufact
Ultimately it's all about balance. If you have more military bonuses but less economic bonuses, you need more economy world, and vice versa.
I just hope the locust swarms don't move on to yet another genre after brutally raping this one. Look what happened to space simulations after RTS, FPS and MMORPG showed up
