I figured out the issue. It was not a problem with Galciv at all. A couple months back I installed what I thought were the exact same sticks of ram into my dual channel box. It was running with very little issues until I started playing this game. AFter extensive troubleshooting I noticed that the two sticks are not the same at all (even though they are the same brand) so this was causing my computer to go unstable. I removed those sticks of ram and it is running fine now. Yo

Are you still having this issue?
It doesn't give that error everytime. It has a couple times when it actually tanked the system instead of crashing to the desktop. I have just updated to the latest ati drivers and updated my sound card drivers too (I found the sound a little flakey at times) I can play much more intesive games like Medieval 2 with the graphics settings maxed out with out it crashing. I am going to keep trying to see if I can get that smartexception. Others here have reported this exa
I downloaded smartexception but it is not catching anything it goes to a black screen and my system is unresponsive. The odd time I can get it to drop to the desktop I may be able to catch it with this "smartexception" but I am not sure here is the latest debug.err This error is consistent with the diplomacy windows when I am switching races but it seems to happen most when I am trying to trade and keep switching items to see what the best deal is. This is beyond annoying othe
Typically the game just freezes the system up doesnt necessary reboot itself I have to reboot it. During one of the many resets my system didn't like it and got a cmos checksum error.. anyway that is not the issue because I resolved that. My system is back functioning fine but it still crashed when I was trying to trade stuff with another race at the diplomacy screen. It just freezed up and then I it went to a black screen after I held down num lock to try to get it o
Hello I got the games to load again. The system crashed so many times because of the potential diplomacy screen bug that it had messed up my CMOS settings which caused an issue with my second channel of ram. I found this out after removing the second bank swapping out known good, flashing the bios and doing every other troubleshooting step in gods creation. So this particular issue is not a bug but the crashing at the diplomacy screens still is. Any luck wit
I still cannot get my games working again. Even games that I had backed up in a different folder don;t work. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled nothign that I do seems to make it work again... I got rid of that smartexception thing because I thought that it may have caused this issue but the problem still exsists. I don't understand why it is doing this. Here is the latest debug log different from what I was getting before when it was crashing in game:
another bug that is driving me nutts when I bought Gal civ 2 I used a different email address then what I used when I bought Dark avatar and your stardock central website is having a real hard time with this. It keeps overwritting the settings for both if I change one so it always thinks that I have invalid info for one of them. So every time I log into it gives me a popup about it not being right.
I created another post for the DA crashes intermittently because the post crashes my internet explorer window intermittently?! Not sure if it has to do with all the logs or not but this has been one frusterating experience. My game started off crashing intermittently when I went to enter a diplomacy screen with any race. Some times it can be fine then all of a sudden my system tanks. You can view the details of this in the other post if you can get the freaking thing to work.<b
