I guess my question is then, if there is a way to have a user editable option, either in-game or in an ini file, that could be edited so that as you Tab through the options, it would display what button or item is selected in a text box?

Thanks, I figured out how to edit to set the resolution already. Problem is that Sins is designed for a minimum 1024x768 resolution mainly due to the 2D user interface. My display is 1024x600, so you can see the issue. I need the 2D interface to change so that I can successfully navigate through it. Thanks.
Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Thanks
I am hoping that someone here can assist me. I've been trying to get Sins running on my Asus N10J netbook. Please don't post if you can't offer constructive input like "don't bother, netbooks aren't meant for gaming". That's not the point. This netbook has an nVidia 9300m GS GPU so can compete with mid level gaming notebooks, can play Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, BF2, just fine. It's a very capable little notebook, very portable. That being said, it has a 1024x600 screen resolution. Sins r
Ok, just so I'm clear, here's what I'm saying. Below picture is all I can get with my 1024x600 view running 1024x768. Red box represents my 1024x600 screen. Yellow text in red box in upper right represents my quick fix for possible ini option to display what button is highlighted if you're tabbing through fields, so that if it isn't visible you can at least know what's going on. Once in game, it runs well at 1024x600 res. <img src="http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/9017/sins1024x6002
It'd be easier to play if I could play it on my netbook at 1024x600 resolution...
Sooo, can anyone point me in the right direction as far as a mod team that might at a minimum be able to offer a small text box on the main UI screens to say what's highlighted as I tab through the options? Or better yet, and updated UI for smaller screen res's? Thanks.
Not sure why you think you are owed something. You bought a product. They delivered what you bought. You want more? Asking nicely is the way to go.
Thanks for your response. I guess that didn't come across as I had meant. I just wanted to say that I would prefer to hear from the dev (the horse's mouth), instead of some of the nay-sayers on the forums. I understand there would be complications,
Thank you so very much kryo for your constructive response. I understand and respect your comments about this. Are you aware of any groups or sites that I can visit that might be working on such a mod or be open to investigating it? How about my other suggestion to have a small text in the upper right corner that states which button is highlighted so at least if you're tabbing through the UI you can know what's selected even though you can't see it. This could
Umm, I beg to differ. Visit www.gameeer.com and I also have an Asus N10J which has a nVidia 9300m GS 512MB in it. Netbooks weren't really on the scene when Sins was under development, but now they're coming forward in force, and appears 1024x600 is the standard res for these machines. I can get games over eight years old to work with 1024x600, why not one relesed recently? Sins runs fine on Intel GMA950 with minimum graphics setting
Just because its in the system requirements doesn't mean it isn't a desired feature. Lots of things are listed as system requirements that change later. Just for the record, looking at my game box I see nothing that says "minimum 1024x768 resolution" or to that effect. And why would you have to resize the buttons? Just move them to a location where they will fit. I've done lots of VB work with databases and moving or manipulating buttons to support different res's at the customers req
I don't know why they won't support less than 1024x768. I realized that once I get in the 3D game (tab through optoins) everything works great at 1024x600. It's only the 2D main selection screens. Seems like a small fix to allow for support for this resolution. It doesn't affect main gameplay, only the 2D buttons. That should be a very simple fix. Considering netbooks are quickly becoming popular, it would seem like a good business decision to support this. But who am I but a feeble c
I was wondering how I can make a request to have Sins support netbook resolutions of 1024x600. I have an Asus N10J, which is a 10.2" netbook with a 9300m GS GPU which can more than handle Sins, but the minimum 1024x768 resolution kills any opportunity. Same goes for Galactic Civilizations 1 & 2. Thanks for any assistance.
I copied files to hard drive then used the setup.exe and it seems to be working. How odd. Thanks for prompt responses however.
I can install Sins on my desktop no problem, but installing it via my USB drive to laptop always gives me a "Please insert the disk:" error. Help!
Come to find out, my video card was bad! It was displaying 2D just fine, but when I went to fire up SWAT 4, it had a similar issue. Actually, kinda strange, because I got some wireframe stuff, but nothing else. I am borrowing another video card from another PC until I can get this one replaced. This temp video card displays just fine. Thanks for the response though!
Sounds like same issue I have, except that my screen flickers, but I have sound. I also have a GeForce 6600 but GT with 128MB. I tried both 84.21 drivers, and latest 93.71 from nVidia's site with no resolution.

I recently purchased Galactic Civlizations Gold. I installed it on my nForce 2 PC with a GeForce 6600 GT 128MB, 1024MB RAM, AMD Sempron 2400+. Game installed just fine. But when I go to start it, I get a blank (acutally flickering black) screen. Sound is there, just no video. I installed it on another PC, and it ran just fine, but don't use that PC for gaming, just did it to trial it.
