It seems to have been an issue with my dual core processor. The thread below explains the problem: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=274&aid=102033#1094818 I turned off AMD Cool and Quiet in the BIOS, then installed the AMD dual core drivers for Win XP and the game runs perfectly now.

I have the same issue. The 2D sections of the game (menu's, cinematics etc.) display correctly. The main 3D map and the small 3D displays while in the ship building or planet view menus will jump/flicker/rotate wildly. The problem usually happens after I have been playing for 5-10 minutes, and then can only be resolved by restarting the game. Occasionally the problem happens as soon as I load the game. I've enabled the hardware mouse, and turned most of the graphics o
