Okay, if I were to run Impulse to download the games and the 2.01 update, could I then copy the files to Wine (assuming I have the games already set up using Stardock Central)? I've more or less moved Windows XP to a virtual machine, so I really have no more Windows to boot. At least none that I can play the game with. (Though VirtualBox did recently add 3D hardware acceleration.) But I could at least install the games on the VM.

I see no reason Stardock Central can't get the updates. :\
Are the 2.0+ updates still Impulse-only? Because that kind of prevents GalCiv2 owners who run Linux from enjoying the updates. Stardock Central, last I checked, didn't have the updates. Which makes me sad. :( I've supported Stardock. I bought GalCiv2 and both expansion packs. Can't I at least get the fancy new updates?
Oh come on. How can people moan about this? If you want yet another massive, completely free update, you need to spend 2 minutes installing an inoffensive piece of software which can be turned off/uninstalled any time you like afterwards. What is it with gamers these days and the insistence of 'I should get everything I want and how I want it'? Drives me mad.
I'm a Linux user, and Impulse doesn't run
The report is nice and all, but I find it interesting that Linux was an option for what people want Stardock to focus on, while actual Linux users couldn't honestly complete the survey. If I remember correctly, there was a question on what operating system you use. But it only listed Windows OSes. I tried to leave it blank, but it wouldn't let me. So I chose the last version of Windows I used, which was Windows XP. There was another question that
I don't see the big deal. Linux users have a grub partition for Windows anyway. It's not that. I just got tired of rebooting my computer whenever I wanted to play a game for an hour or two. I've become very accustomed to Linux, and the programs I run in it, and I don't really want to keep rebooting whenever I want to play. I'm not saying that all games should run on Linux, of course. I'm just waitin
I wanted to know if anyone has had any further success with GalCiv2 on Linux. My switch to Linux shortly after I got the original GalCiv2 is what has kept me from buying the expansion pack. If GalCiv2 Dread Lords and Dark Avatar work properly on Linux (via Wine or Cedega), then I'd go and get the expansion I did try GalCiv2 in Wine (or Cedega, I forget) a few weeks ago. It didn't go so
Would Stardock ever consider working with Transgaming, or Linux Game Publishing, to get a proper port to Linux? I can understand that Stardock may not have the resources to port it themselves, so why not go with a company that has some experience doing it? Speaking of Transgaming, they're the makers of Cedega. And I'm wondering if anyone has this game working on Cedega. Wine is fine, but I think Cedega is a bit more stable, while Wine has more API support.
