Late game because of my strategy I have a gigantic liquid treasury. I have enough military just to prevent computers from declaring war on me. After I max out all the techs however I mass the best types of ship I can, but they do have their limits so I bring along a few constructors with every fleet and create a military base near every major/intense battle to give me an extra boost.

With a medium size map in DL (Saying map size because of distance) I can use all my trade routes on a minor race and if I build 12 star bases with trade bonus, it gives 1000 (average) a week. In a medium size map with only 15 planets, that's not shabby. Not at all. More trade routes would increase this even more.
Have you actually noticed what this ability does/gives you It has a random chance of lowering the time it takes to research a technology (atleast, in DL).
easy to get along with such as Torians and Acreans. Sorry to contradict (maybe it's just me ) but the Torians and Acreans always declare war on me first. I suggest Korx, seeing as they concentrait on trading.
Whoops, sorry for this just noticed you said "Loving Dark Avatar". Not sure excactly what it'll be called but it will have a Gfx in the Dark Avatar file.
You can add static pictures (Atleast, if Dark Avatar hasn't changed;and if you are using it) My Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Program Files/Stardock/TotalGaming/GalCiv2/Gfx/Race and they will appear in the game. If you have Dark Avatar, it would probably have Dark Avatar/ after the Galciv2/.
You don't need to trade with the new planet. Just trade with the one you're already trading with.
For your third question, I believe the planet (or ship) you last looked at you can find using the 'FIND' magnefying glass next to the minimap. Also, you can open up the planetary screen and set it in alphabetical order, click on the planet and then use the find button, this definatly works. I'm not sure if you asked this, about your second question, but it happens because the game treats a saved game as a new game (you get the "We just got the hyperdrive" paragraph and it sends you to y
I have not beat any modes past challenging, but here's my strategy. I play as the Yors, for their delicious 25% miniturization bonus. When you have the minituration techs and the hyperion shrinker, you can have small ships with a considerably large amount of space, 62.(considering they only take up 3 logistical points, you can make quite nice fleets). My capital planet I make a industrial dominion, to mass huge ships that I so dearfully love. I max the industrial output and make my taxes as
