Placing one advanced farm and one food distro center on a planet gives you a pop limit just under 20 billion in most cases. If memory serves, usually about 16 billion though I sometimes got 19 billion pop. It could be argued that the space is better spent on a stock market or something else, but if you're like me and pretty lazy about keeping all your planets guarded, it helps a little when enemy transports slip through.

Perhaps Nvidia are just waiting for the real operating system to be released? and who could blame them if they were?? Probably gamers like us. I had noticed that most of the people reporting spikey graphics were using Nvidia cards, including myself. That's where I generally place the brunt of the blame for my graphical glitches. Side note, I just installed the new patch that was attempting to resolve that issue, but failed. I'll get around to sendin

Yes, Emperor, it's urban China. Shanghai, specifically. Though we've also encoutered it in Beijing and any place that attracts tourists in the lesser known cities. My experience is that beggars are simply unknown in rural areas of China. At least, any of the rural parts I've been to. I don't much care for giving money to the poverty stricken directly, though I would be perfectly willing to give food. Oddly, I've yet to meet a beggar 'round these parts willing to accept food. You may have been taking me out of context or maybe I was unclear. "Those wretches" I refer to are those who CHOOSE to become beggars Some people dont have a choice left. When your missing a limb or two or cant comprehend things well not many people will hire you and the government often forgets to give help. Would you condemn all of those people. No, I would not condemn those who have their situation thr

Captialism didn't spawn those wretches, it merely gave them an excuse. so, are you really naive enough to believe that society and culture play no part in determining who you are, the choices you can make, and the trajectory of your life? niiice . You may have been taking me out of context or maybe I was unclear. "Those wretches" I refer to are those who CHOOSE to become beggars. I'm not against help

The thing about socialism is, it's a great theory that falls flat on its butt when put into practice. You're fighting against human nature, and more importantly, it's a system that only takes ONE selfish person to ruin. Why only one? Because it's an attitude that spreads like weeds in a garden. I'm currently living in a socialist nation, and it's not like there's a whole lot of compassion or even help for the underclass. In fact, there is even less in the way of social support netwo

Given my play style, I've noticed a few things that seems to almost always happen in my games. Terrans: Typically aggressive, but don't throw down with me because I buy their ships. Early game they make fine arms dealers for my military needs. Drath: Expansionist hogs. They also have a serious attitude problem. Demanding tribute here and there, they're at least as bad as Drengin for bullying others. At least the Drengin won't stab me in the back so easily. Altari

So, it's just bad luck that I've been coming up with practically nil on the special tiles? I thought it might be some patch monkey making things "better". The past few games I've played, I'd be lucky to get even a single special on one planet in fifty. I like the cheese factor, because I'm generally such a sucky player that I have a hard time getting decen econ in even a beginner level game. I still *win* in any manner of my choosing, but I'm holding off on going higher difficulty un

I think there are some interesting ideas, but even if (or maybe especially if) research star bases are expensive, then the only civilizations that could realistically afford to have many of them would be the large ones. And more importantly, with the current setup, if you play the Altarian Resistance with max bonus points in research and with the technologist government, you're getting a ridiculously high bonus out of the gate. It's like +85%. Now add extra research that doesn't take up planet

The only time I've ever noticed the AI spending extra points is when I've previously played them and they don't reset. As a result, there are two or three races who always seem weak because I just can't stand them. Otherwise they're spreading their points really thin and not getting any real benefit from it.

Did you get some event notice that the Yor discovered a precursor artifact and were becoming more powerful by the day? It's not a mega event, it happens sometimes. In my games it's usually the Arceans. Othwerise, probably one of the above ideas.

I want more tech options for espionage. It's just a little too, eh, little. One tech that grants an improvment that eats up a tile just doesn't fulfill my desires to be a backstabbing bastard. Being able to target a specific tech I'd like to steal would be great, even if it's got really high failure rates. Also, more xenobiology techs. I'm not really sure how or what, but it seems like a good idea that needs a few more things to make it shine. An option to crank up the like

In my experience, the event only kills a PQ 0 planet and turns it into an asteroid belt. Or maybe it can do worse and I've just been lucky that way so far. I doubt it's actually a mega event, though, as I get it just about every game and I keep that option off. (I'm looking at you, Jagged Knife.)

While I intensely dislike the current espionage setup, it's not a deal-breaker as far as DA goes. It would be nice if they put a few more options into it. Like some techs to boost effectiveness of spies, since the only spy tech currently available is the one that gives the counter espionage center, which isn't really that spectacular. Ideally it would be fleshed out a lot more to potentially include trying to steal a specific tech, if at a high failure rate. I'd like to see something along t

I stopped picking the creativity feature in DA, because it has so far done nothing for me. In DL I would occasionally get a random tech benefit, but in at least 10 long DA games, nothing. On the other hand, I'm not really having the bugs/problems that others seem to have, so it's not a big problem for me to spend that point on a more useful ability, like social/military/research.
