I'd rather not download more software if someone in tech support has already heard of the problem and found a typical answer.

Dang I never seen these things resolved. Mine crashes when I research shields too.

Whoops I'll post a debug report, but this appears to be a common problem so I'd just like to hear how others fixed it.

Did anyone ever find an answer to this?

I'm on the third mission of the campaign and it keeps crashing at the same turn. I'm VERY far into it. Either this is a hard mission or I really suck at this game . I tried going back to a previous autosave, but at the same turn it keeps crashing. Any ideas? Thanks.
