Conquesci, that looks very reasonable... Sensors aren't very difficult to research anyhow. How far down the engine tech tree do you recommend going in your average game?
Uhlek
Interesting sutff -- but pass me an e-mail (I set it to "visible" on my profile) or I think this thread could get clogged. Or set up an Off-Subject post, I dunno. I'd say everything on my mind about it here since I'm posting off the subject again anyhow, but I unfortunately don't currently have time. Edit: OK, it doesn't seem to be working (yet?), so my e-mail is [email protected]. (Lowercase
i had the same problem, I think everyone else did too -- so here it is: A campaign guide that worked with plenty of elbow room on normal, so I'd guess it should be good for another difficulty level or two. Use your campaign funds, the ones you start the mission with. Do not attempt to create revenue (that's only necessary, at least on normal, on one mission or less). And use them quickly -- buy the first, and maybe second factory on any planet colonized, IF the planet is necessary.
Jeff: Awesome. Glad to meet you. I agree on Starflight -- I'm still waiting for a mind-blowing remake of that game, crammed with cutting edge graphics, ridiculous challenges, tons of features, and all without sacrificing the original impossibly titanic fully explorable universe... Well, I can dream. I've been looking for Starflight in every game I've played since then, I guess. Unless you're a PC S
Uh, I can't even find the ship list... I've been stuck zooming in on the map and hunting down any dots that look like my civ's color. If nothing else, how about making objects in the galaxy map buttons twinkle or blink when they're clicked to "on?" Edit: Also, especially if not only, the icons should be much larger in huge or gigantic sized games... Might only be necessary when
I agree, 15% morale is a lot, and I've never used espionage (yet, still finishing up a normal difficulty game...). Maybe 10% for that planet alone or 5% civilization-wide, or a random range, with espionage effected at two or three times the rate of the negative morale penalty? Balancing the already-available ethical alignment events would also be nice -- almost none of the "good" aligned choices offer any advantage, even when it seems the circumstance could easily include benefits.<br/
Running 1.4, campaign. "Salvation" mission, and at least one previous mission I think: When I load any saved game, all my autopiloted ships turn around and go back to where they appeared on the map. Or where they were built? Not sure yet, I've only built one additional ship... Should I figure out how to post a debug.err? Does this belong in the 1.4 bugs sticky? It's the only irritating actual bug I've experienced in v1.4 that doesn't seem to be related to my computer. I th
Uhh? Tactical combat? MOO2? What...? I think I agree with G.W. on the division of firepower issue, just as long as it's not implemented in the same game as the Dread Lords. My main complaint with GC2's combat system would have to be in fleet movements. Say I want to send one big ship and a bunch of little ships to a target, but the little ships can only move half as fast as the monst
It seems like I can barely sell a ship for its production cost, even a decently equipped warship to a race with tons of money, a bad military and low technology. But here's something different that might really need pointed out: Civilization alliances seem weak and thin to me, even on GC2... I think this would be an excellent incentive to strengthen alliances (and apply some considerable pressure to break up the alliances of other civs!). Initiate a trade with an ally. Click
Oh. I forgot about the research base. yes, I agree strongly on that. I feel bad about wasting all that space now. Oops. Well it was a good idea, I thought, but Kryo posted this on another thread whose author had the same good idea: "1) No, minifreighters move 1 square per turn no matter what." Oh well.
I'm a noob, but I'll try to give some advice anyway. You said "Dread Lords scenario," does that mean you're in campaign? But you said you have minor races... If you're in a sandbox game I'm not sure I'm qualified to give advice, but let me drop in my two cents anyhow, since no one else has replied yet... If you have the technologies to build the speed assist modules for your military starbase(s), load them on quick and make more. I'm about to hopefully finish my final (normal) campai
I'm up to mission five I think (Normal, 1.4 patched), the one requiring you to take the Dread Lord planet "Teth." I had no problem on the previous mission, although my tactics were much less refined, I was lucky enough to hit the DL world (and annihilate it -- Mass Driver Invasion!) before they could loose a ship on me. I think my allies on that one might have been exterminated by a little red ship I barely saw shoot across the map... It looks like the only positive facet of their pre
Could someone help me find the 1.00 patch for now? It's going to be a while before I can get the account hopefully switched over.
Thanks again, I wasn't clear on how that worked from the other posts and various website areas I examined. Hmm. I guess that could be allright...
Thanks for the info Kryo, I hope that will make it easier to get my game back, but I doubt it. Could you tell me how much another serial costs, and if future Stardock releases have (or will have) similar ownership policies (such as the expansion thing for GC2)? I use a handful of computers, and I'm going to have to avoid this kind of hassle.
I bought and installed GC2, and noticed my video card had died in a software complication. Before I got that fixed, I tried GC2 out on a friend's computer. My friend patched it, and said the updates were great. Now my card's fixed, I have my CDs and CD key back, and I can't update the game. I thought GC2 *was* multiplayer. Oops. My friend forgot his e-mail, too. Oops... I've never had a problem with CD-required games, or a significant problem with CD keys, but I didn't kn
