if you simplify games down to their basic actions, we're all moving squeezing pushing pulling and poking on clicky pieces of plastic so all games are derived from baby rattlers but are you going to quit playing games altogether because shaking a rattler is infantile? no, because our rattlers are much cooler now.

playing a vslowtech/notrading/nobroker game with SB focus, it was pretty solid early but later on its too much of an investment, starts feeling like a novelty. the early SBs have been a solid investment 4 years into the game though (slowtech), but I haven't been able to carry it on exclusively by itself. they've pretty much allowed me to be at war nonstop fighting 2 civs that outclass me in every way. I'm cutting into the Torian empire and can beat them fleetVfl
thx for the reply yeah, been calling that the fuckorx law. I play with techtrade/broker off its not too bad a problem really, the festival of capitalism is great early-to-mid game but the odd low morale planets really kick the average down. and i'm not too worried about late game, harmony crystals and morale resources are a priority way before then. might not be a bad idea to use some of them as trade
Once you reach Advanced Espionage is there any reason to leave your agents deployed with that civilization? Do they need to be there to steal a technology?
yeah, they don't really need influence resources anyway
yay another korx player [e digicons][/e] hey, do you have to cull your population when their morale turns to shit? i mean it makes sense in a way, they're ruthless greedy cutthroat mercenaries, Korx society probably isn't very pretty. but I'm wondering if I should do more to manage their morale, or if i should even bother -- it is one of their weaknesses, I just kinda roll with it, they get their capitalist festivals and that's it, beyo
ex: Playing as Korx i place those additional ability points before the game starts does it count my race as Custom or Korx
i had that problem for a while, i play Korx notechtrading games, and i noticed a few things that really made me see war in a different way, - AI are better at the colonization phase : i have a lot of potential planets to invade - AI are better at specializing in tech : the more techs they have over you, the more likely you are to steal a tech when invading - my homeworld population always gets out of control as i run out of colonization options :
My real post now, for it to be GCIII it would have to keep the core turnbased 4X gameplay that makes it GalCiv. so.. assuming this is a whole new GC not just tweaking the original: - Starting with the most obvious weakness of GC2, combat. honestly, I like the automation. its very GC. but that doesn't mean combat has to be weak. I'm thinking automated combat but with the visuals of Sins of Solar Empire. But every Fleet should be pre-programmed by the play
I've always been interested in the franchise and the universe, the story. I'd like to see something that expands the storytelling to a different medium. Kind of like an RPG or a freeform space exploration/trade/empire building game from the perspective of a player character. so instead of a GCIII proper I'd like some spinoffs. - Korx Mercenary Squadron (Linear Space Flight Combat Sim similar to Descent FreeSpace ) - Drengin Special Forces (FPS similar to Ge
i liked the old espionage system. the interface was true to what you would expect the leader of a galactic empire to deal with. he assigns a budget -- the spies do their jobs. im the leader of an empire , not the leader of an espionage bureau . a better improvement would have been if foreign planets within your territorial influence would be modified depending on espionage level with the civ that owns the planet. ie; - lower morale and unrest due t

1. U.P content/options/interaction. flesh it out more, it has a lot more potential 2. Minor races turn into major races once they research HyperDrive and a set number of basic technologies prerequisite to their race becoming Major. This process should be play tested so the colonization phase will be well underway by the time they meet their prerequisites. As Major races, they have influence, a portrait in the Major race diplomacy screens, the ability and AI to expand, and a spot on the
generally i pick only 1 ally for the entire game and wipe everyone else out. might bring a 3rd civ into the alliance if they're currently fighting the same enemies, have the same alignment, and if they're relations are good with the other ally.
i wonder if it chooses the next homeworld based on its overall rank or by order of colonization
been doing the same. keeps the game fresh. there's no shortage ways to cheese the game. techtrading 'on' can be cheesed too. ie; selling longsince-proliferated technologies to minor civilizations for high profit. if the AI were capable of doing it too then it wouldn't be cheese. doesn't matter what settings are, if someone wants to cheese the game, its not that difficult to find a way. but i like tech'off' cause it makes it a whole different ballgame. with tech'on' and very fas
my settings: doesn't matter as long as techtrading is off. been experimenting with gigantic rare/rare/rare (basically makes every civilization a 'minor race'.
scoremonger settings would be something like: gigantic scattered systems abundant habitables abundant planets abundant stars very fast tech progression any number of AI opponents (not sure if points are scored for forcing a civilization's retirement/deliverying the finishing attack, so it wouldn't matter if you did a 1v1 or a 1v9.) techtrading 'on' influence victory condition 'off' allied victory condition 'off' technologic victory condition
Korx - Mercantilist - Neutral. Trade is strong.
that fixes it. you're my hero. thx dude
