Hmm, time to put an end to this argument. Human nature. Basically, no matter how much you try and level the playing field, someone will always break the rules for their own gain. As for Religion, Mulsims are not more or less dangerous than any other monotheistic religion that believes in one god and killing or converting the heretic. Pretty daft if you ask me, considering all the major monotheistic religions are pretty similar at the root; which is being nice to people and no

Take a leaf out of the 'Greek Book of Really Ace Politics' Ancient Greece was considered to be one of the best examples of Democracy. Wait most people fail to tell you was that it was a democracy built upon slavery. If you were a slave, you didn't get paid and didn't vote. You did however have a decent 'welfare' system; you got fed, watered and sheltered and a job for life. Personally, I think it's a great idea, get all those lazy good-for-nothings off their backsides and ge

Read anything by Arthur C Clarke - particularly Rendezvous with Rama - Also anything by Asimov. Greg Bear - Eon and it's follow ups. Alastair Reynolds - read everything he's ever done, make sure it's in chronological order though. Peter F Hamilton - The Nights Dawn trilogy is a must, Pandoras Star (I use the 'villain' of the book as a race in GCII) and its sequal is good too, plus fallen Dragon and the Greg Mandell series. Then there's Steven Baxter & Robert S

Couple of suggestions, some based on other ideas: Twilight of the Gods For some mysterious reason, the universe appears to be dying. Each turn a random planet (populated or not) is removed from the game (or explodes into an asteroid field). Should make things a little more interesting. AWESOME idea man. You may want to increase the time between the planets blowing up, or maybe make it a random star that g

Israelis are great - the only country in the world who aren't scared of unilateral action. As for dangerous people, I'd go for our own Government here in Brittanialand. Followed by myself in a bad mood

Yep, that's my next game. My biggest worry is always alien influence, so most of my victories tend to end up being leader of a hegemony or subsuming other races into my Empire. By the time the big guns arrive, there's no one left to shoot at I'm just not evil enough

Also, please, lets not forget the veterans like myself who made 'the penultimate sacrifice'. We are still alive, but for many, many reasons are unable to live 'normal' lives ourselves. As someone who worked in RAF intelligence, a big thankyou to all the US, Canadian, Australian and NZ folk I've worked with in my time. Our rememberance day is of course November 11th. We may or may not agree with what we are duty bound to do, but we do it to the best of our ability.<br/

Hi, Is there any way (via a cheat or modding) to add special resources to planets? I want to create some custom planets for custom races. Also, I want to create a homeworld stuffed with bonus tiles for a laugh and see how far I get with just the one colony.

Quote one: "Abandonment: A random civilization evacuates the galaxy. All colonies are destroyed and all ships disappear, leaving a new colony rush for these worlds." Quote two: "Bad idea. I'm sure its cheap for a mega-event to have the possibility to outright destroy a civilization that could be the largest and most powerful." The whole idea I had for abandonment was for an alternative to surrender. Right now, when a civ

I like the *ahem* 'Death Starbase' idea And space monsters and the supernova - you could evacuate the planet with transports How about the weakest civ invents a Dyson Sphere and encases a star in a massive, habitable shell. I also like the dodgy ship builders, especially for federalist governments who are most likely to cut corners where finance is involved. An outb

Reply to Creativity? in Game Talk

On Dread Lords I remember choosing creativity once or twice. The result was the odd random tech appearing from nowhere, although there was a dialogue box pop up to tell me what was discovered. For one point apiece, I think Luck and Creativity are worth it, for a start it stops me from being too anal with race bonuses and appears to help things along every now and then.

heh, it's the best thing to appear on the UK PCG website since it was created (well, tagged onto the CVG site). The best thing about it is that it's encouraged people to buy the game who wouldn't have considered it before, even after reading a review. The AI is great, and it frightens me sometimes, even at normal levels. Also like the Galactic events that really screw things up. I had a cosy alliance with the Yor and had and influence victory in the bag when one of my Diploma
