I notice you had the Drengin set at a higher difficulty level than any of the other races. Is a game harder, maybe, when you do that? One would think it would be harder to play with ALL enemies at that harder level, but if just ONE enemy has that advantage (and if he's aggressive, like the Drengin are), maybe the other computer powers don't do as good a job of containing him? He conquers them with that intelligence edge, and then overpowers you with the extra planets?

Okay, okay... I've got it now. I think. My calculations above are wrong because I'm assuming that 33% military spending means 33% of all production (mps and tps) when actually it means 33% of the mps alone. How many tech points my planets can generate is irrelevant to my military spending. So 33% of the 60 mps my homeworld can generate is 20, plus a 10% military bonus is 22, which is exactly the number I'm getting when my spending is at 100%. Likewise with my research, 34% of the 40

Er, correction: at 100% spending, I'm getting 22, 26, and 15 production on my homeworld. But that's still well short of what I should be getting, especially in the research category (15 instead of 34+).

Thanks for the reply, Mumblefratz... or should I say, MARTIN LUTHER? Unfortunately, I don't think it resolves the mystery. I'm not using focus, and I have my military, social, and research bars all at 1/3 of overall spending (33%, 33%, and 34%). So if the total industrial capacity on my homeworld is 100 (which it is, by happy coincidence), and my spending is 100%, I should be making 33 military points, 33 social points, and 34 research points. Now, since my manufacturing capacity is

Okay, I've had the game a few days now, and have been trying to figure out how the game figures production. It's driving me crazy, though, because the numbers I'm getting on my screens are different from the ones that the game manual (and simple mathematics) lead me to expect. For instance: I have my spending set at 100% to simplify things. I'm spending 109 bc per turn, but 39 of those are maintenance. So actually, I'm spending 70 bc per turn on production (mps and tps).
