Let's put it simply... In the 'hive society' example there would be no taxes. End of story. Every person in the community would work for the government (because noone would have money, and therefore there would be no private corporations) and not be paid; they would have nothing to give back to the government, because the government would never give it to them. On the flipside, nothing would be bought or sold on an active market. There would be no revenue anywhere, and

I'd like to know if you can. The broad, flat wings, if you place them one at a time, mount differently on the hardpoints. A real pain, since one will inevitably be offset a good deal from the other.
I've seen it happen, except I usually have to goad the minors into it. I usually pick a minor as an ally and start handing them the worlds I don't want. They go crazy. I'll get some screens of the Jessuins beating the Arceans into so much dogfood for you.
And whoever would put them in the game could put hardpoints inside the hull. Amen.
Uh, starbases and the large ships are huge (so to speak)... Perhaps warships are not quite so big as a city, but I believe the starbases are, in fact, supermassive.
Actually, no matter how many trade routes you have, I've never seen it actually increase the number of routes.
What the heck is a dysons sphere????? A Dyson Sphere is something hypothesized by Freeman Dyson. Originally, it was envisioned as a dense ring of solar collectors orbiting a star to, feasibly, gather all the available power from it's output. Over time it has inspired such things as Larry Niven's 'Ringworld'. As seen in Star Trek (one of
Before I even read the words on the image, DG, I had that thought in my head... 'That'd be a great colonizer.' Great design, I like it! Off-topic: What is your avatar from? Reminiscent of Starcraft.
Well, if Americans spoke English, I'd be inclined to agree with the above statements claiming that the 'natives' are poorer at it than people who use it as a second language. However, American woefully underqualifies as any form of English. So let's just simplify; we speak a Germanic tongue. Whatever it is. The end. Back on topic: I love to read reviews like this, and I believe alot of people write reviews such as this one on purpose. Nothing like an entertaining afternoon of t
Truth be told, if you do the math, for the past 10 to 15 years we have enjoyed very cheap gasoline.
BTW, the people saying that the tactical control battles are hard to control, is because the real-time tactical battles use Newtonian physics, meaning, if I have a cruiser going in one direction and tell it to move another way, it won't turn on a dime, and will slowly reverse direction and head the other way, so it takes time to get used to the real physics engine and lear
Just like Coastie74 said mostly anywere between 2.75 and 3.00, thanks bush, you bastard. ROFL Bush has nothing to do with gas prices you muppet!
/SIGNED just to spite people who can't count.
Really, I didn't even read the entire first post. No reason to. However, I guess you underestimate everyone's ability to count... Reply #1 would certainly, inevtiably, be 33 if the first had a count of 32. If I could edit my post I would retract my signature. I don't want to support causes in which people are incapable of basic math. I apologize for not reading your first post fully. Goodnight.
I agree with the op, war or alliance shouldn't be a state of a relationship, as much as it is an effect or cause of said state. I don't think the world of politics are quite that black and white.
yep, already tried that and i just tried it again, nothing. Download Stardock Central and download/install the game, as was said before. This is free if you've bought the game, I think. Just need your serial number.
I see your point, Infoceptor... But we're battling the AI, not other players, and until I see them field fleets filled with tiny/small hulls with nothing but weapons, I'll continue making my massive sluggers, which simply wade through their armadas as if they weren't even there (later in the game, of course). The survivability of larger hulls vs. comparable AI designs makes them very much worth it. Because quite frankly, I'd rather lose zero expensive ships than a hundred cheap

I like the Star Viper/Virago from Shadows of the Republic. That thing is beautiful and DEADLY. http://starwars.wikia.com/images/0/0b/Virago_NEGVV.jpg None from the new films spring to mind/stand out. While I haven't seen the Old Republic Dreadnaught in any of the movies, period, nevermind the new films, it might be in t
Just finished a new ship. It's my first one using Kryo's excellent blank hulls mod! Thanks for making that; it made this project so much easier. The Titan-class Superfreighter <a href="http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=titanclass02fp9.jpg" target="_bla
Even if I used your 1500 BC trade numbers, we're only looking at 15% of net, 7% of the Gross. I must be a noob, but I can never manage to have high taxes and keep my people happy. I never have room for all the trade goods, etc etc... Even if I make worlds dedicated to one thing or another (research or manufacturing). <TABLE cell
Yeah, it's not bad. I've played far worse games. As mentioned, the tactical combat is not very intuitive, and therefore extremely clumsy. It has a steep learning curve in general. The strategic part of the game's not bad, and you do design your own ships for the most part. But none of them can be customized; there's three areas of a ship, and each one can be swapped out for a new type. But there are no aesthetic options. Ditto on the voices... I wanted to throttle the
I like two ships, the Old Republic Dreadnaught heavy cruiser, and the Banking Clan cruiser. I like the Nebulon-B too, though.
I noticed something while creating ships. When I look at them straight on, the hardpoints are not exactly balanced on the sides opposite each other. It makes the ships seem lopsided. Is there a way to combat this? It's driving my perfectionist self insane. It bothers me, too. But it's unavoidable; look at the long, flat, straight planks. They're
And, actually, we have laser weapons as well. I read a defense expo pamphlet my old man brought home from when he worked at the now-defunct company Systems Resources Corporation. My mother's emplyer, Titan Systems, has a hand in the development for the GPS systems used to implement command and control. Very cool stuff, and our first step into the realm of sci-fi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nautilus_laser Here are some other examples of projects on the rise.<
