I have never had that myself, however if it is the taxation than holy cow. If your approval is too low, you don't get new population. If you don't get new population than you don't have the tax base to maintain your empire. Do you by any chance have persistent money problems? I don't play on tough because I am too much of a wimp but that seems like a bad place to be. It seems to me the Terrans play best with lots of people and better

My list goes like so: 1: The ability to save planetary governors for reuse in other games. 2: The ability to put building types, instead of specific buildings for planetary governors. (IE research buildings in general instead of Xeno Research Lab in particular.) 3: W or another explore command that goes to random locations rather than trying to explore the map. (The explore algorithm sucks and once all areas are explored is worse.) 4: The o
Add news icons (you know, the ones that show up on the right side of the screen) for battles and surrendered/otherwise gained planets. This would be great. You see, this way I can quickly zoom to these places without taking notes or trying (and failing) to remember them. That way I can build replacement ships or move reinforcements around easier. Also, it would make it easier to find those planets that suddenly find themselves in your empire like when someone surrenders to you so that y
There is something wrong with surrender in the game. The AI seems to follow some general rules of thumb that aren't always relevant. For example: I was playing a game where I had set the difficulty lower then normal because I was exploring the new economy, the result was I controlled most of the center of the map. The other 4 races were more or less each in his own corner. The Altarans were isolated deep in their own corner and had a big buffer of me all around them. They were at wa

It is on SDC. I've downloaded it. Admittedly mine said 0.96a[b].006 and the date is still on 19/2/2008, even after refreshing XML data..
0.97[b].001 is Beta 5
OUCH. Then the update doesn't show up for me at all no matter what server I use or after refreshing XML. I double checked it is set to show betas, but since I have installed 0.96a[b].006 already, it must be set.
Well, I timed it a little. "Normal" turn processing would take from 10-30 seconds (got longer later on), one of these "spikes" took upwards of 10 minutes. (Usual spike was closer to 2-3 minutes, I think... didn't keep accurate records past the one where I got really ticked at how long it took).Could the "spiking" have something to do with the map settings I choose? Max players, max nuetrals, but on a tiny map with few stars and fewer inhabited worlds?
I don't use any
I hope this suggestion wasn't already mentioned, after 14 pages it gets a bit difficult to back read and I am not sure of a good search for this. Anyway: I often kill extra money by going to the civ screen and finnishing builds for coloneys until I hit my budget cap. Say 15k BC to keep out of the 20+ penalty. This can get very tedius fast because of a few quirks in this screen. First: 1) When ordered by currently building (say market place), the order of the planets
I find the simply moving the map to a different area seems to work. But the problem here is I never systematically checked it, I always just waited until I noticed it was taking long and then moved the screen to some other part of the map. It could be that my patience runs out at about the right time. At anyrate I have noticed this to happen as well.
Have you ever updated the game with stardock? If you have updated the game then it is registered one way or another. Just use your E-mail as your log in and click on forgot password if you don't know it, and then it should be able to tell it to you.
-Later on in the game on immense size you can have issues where you have max manufacturing tech but many worlds left to colonize. It might take 50+ turns to build a factory on them or 4k BC to rush them. What if a factory progressed through the intermediate steps along the way? So that when the factory has been built up enough it starts producing as a basic factory, obviously it should also start to cost upkeep. You can build that
How about: -Later on in the game on immense size you can have issues where you have max manufacturing tech but many worlds left to colonize. Thanks for the replies. I have been messing with the game and here is what I have found. 1)For some reason my 50% bonus wasn`t working. When I removed it and spent points elsewhere and picked a different government the game cash flow improved. (and that would be because I was ready for the situation so it didn`t blind side me. I think that if I went back and set up for 50% bonus again it would work, it probably was just a fluke.) 2)The population is more sensitive to taxs.
Well I will try to be more carefull. I didn't realise that the factories have increased upkeep. I did colonize a 26 world and started building factories as my 3rd and last colonized world, though I don't think it was able to finnish even on factory. Even so that might be it with a factory being my first thing to build on every world. I might have to revise my normal building strategy. I did reset my points before I started this game, I change them all the time and I didn't like my la
I love what you have done with the game. but.... I just tried my new beta with this game. Playing Terrans and having 50% economic bonus (30 race abilities, 20 government.) and I was bankrupt in no time. Before I had my forth coloney colonised I had to have my taxs set all the way forward so that I had 49-50% happyness and spending all the way to 0. I was still at -12 BC a week. I don't know if this is a fluke or bug yet, has anyone else had this kind of trouble? Th
Hello ppl I am faily new to the game but I have played GC1 quite a bit and I got the hang of this one fairly quickly. I just finnished my 5th game or so and my first with patch 1.3 final. Unfortunatly being so new to the game I don't know if this is an ongoing bug or something new or if I am doing something wrong. (I looked around a bit but didn't see anyone talking about it.) Here is the problem. I have started using rally points for the first time this game.
