I still play Alpha Centaury after all these years. It has probably to do with the Mars trilogy from Kim Stanley Robinson (said to be one of the major inspirations in the game booklet) and the fact that the author a licence in philosophy (if I remember well). Concerning the concept art whose link was given some posts ago, it seems to me almost a bit too...detailed. Well, I'm playing Dominions II these days so I'm accustomed to figures a few pixels high.

Interesting post. I am too much 'computer-disabled' to think about searching, installing and playing old DOS games, even when they are rated as the best there ever were: MOO1, MOM and X-COM. The other day, I even bought the UFO Trilogy (Aftermath, Aftershock, Afterlight, all 3 in one CD) though websites say they are a far cry (rated 6-8/10, ouch! But I like the theme and plot) from the magnificent X-COM. Intersting because, after letting it on a shelf for many years, I re-instal
You need the "white flags" mod to make the French version work. Yeah! And I'll get frog-starships, ha ha! That'll remind me to always buy in English! ---------------------------------------------- IT WORKS! A few clicks and it work
Hello! French version. Updated yesterday with Stardock Central. I can choose which race, which type of galaxy, which opponents and everything but when I launch the game...It crashes to desktop. Campaign: I can read the synopsis of the first game, see a video with a big colony ship and little ones...and it crashes. Here is the debug.err (if it's from the last attempt, it was a campaign attempt). Tell me if you need the Smart Exception file by e-mail too! ------
I can entirely configure a game but it crashes when it launches. I can't see the first turn open. Same thing with the campaign. Can't play at all. Crash to desktop!
Happy to see it has been solved but... What do I do now to correct it? I speak English fluently but I am computer-challenged , so please explain at a basic level! The best would be to click on an icon and download an auto-install/auto-correct!
