Thanks from here also, I had the same issue.

Updating to the beta version did the trick. I tried updating all my drivers first, but with no luck there, so I tried the v1.3 beta 3 and it worked! Thanks!

I just started my first game, but the planets are all invisible. I can see the stars and the ships and the icons floating around planets (such as earth), but the image of the planet is missing. My settings are all English US (saw that in another post). If I change my tactical zoom to zero, I get little white circles where the planets should be, but high zooms show nothing. Here is my debug file, could it be my graphics card? It's an ok card, but I haven't updated the driver in a while.
