That is, the - militaristic tag, is that the AI IS milatatiostic and I'm not, that the AI thinks that I'm too militaristic OR that the AI doesn't think I'm militaristic enough for them to like me? And do higher difficulty levles mean the AI is more aggressive?
"- militaristic" does mean that the AI is militaristic, not you. The AI gets more aggressive until the max level of CPU and AI is used, which I think is on tough? And then it just seems more

If they did anything like this I'd want to see surrendering reworked first. As is, there's no way to tell really who the computer will surrender to. So before they start throwing bonuses around all willy-nilly, let's at least see who they want to surrender to or something similar to the positive/negative affection rating in the race tab. As it is, I think in all the games I've ever played, rarely do I get surrendered to, even if I'm number one in all categories and blindingly good ethic

As far as I know that doesn't change anything. Just remember that the Drath have the Super Manipulator ability. And they use it to annoy everyone else as much as they can

35 Replies 15,993 Views

Neural, are you playing on DA? Are you playing with the Drath in your game? If so, the Drath are conning them into war with you. Otherwise, if you're able to stomp them, then just eliminate them completely. I promise they won't go to war with you after that

If you set your sliders, for example, to 1/99/0 you'll see all of your excess social production go to military. At 0/100/0, that doesn't happen. Sadly, I don't think it works the other way around.

How much they like you or dislike you is shown on their stats tab. The things that change their feelings include: Positive: trade, economic/research treaties (going to them), military power (this is different for different races), diplomacy (if you have more), helping them out when they ask for it, not going to war with them for a few years (I'm not sure how many, exactly, I think 2 or 3?), and too busy to bother fighting you Negative: influence and influence starbases,
well diplomacy will keep your starbases up and running but personally i am enjoying the game most when my back is against the wall. I guess it is that attitude more than anything else which makes starbases unviable for me.
Well, by all means enjoy the game as you please! I'm glad that everyone can play this game with different styles and still have a good time. Have fun, friend

I've found it's best to try and be friendly with the civ whose territory your starbase is in... and also try and keep them at war with the civs who are at war with you. They do a pretty decent job of protecting your starbases for you This doesn't always work, of course, but I do think the bonuses you can get from the resources are worth fighting for.
Can someone tell me if this is truely the case, tha t a counter espionage center with its 40% morale boost will utilize a moral bonus tile if thats where its placed? And if so, will a stock exchange use an influence bonus tile if its build on one?
Yes, although a Counter-Espionage Center only gives a 20% morale boost; it's not as good morale-wise as a virtual reality center. The Stock Exchange does also get the influence bonus if you put it on the correspon
Seriously, this system might be fine to slow the leader down, but it is illogic, unfair and makes spying for offensive uses not the best choice around.
You deal with what you get for the time being, it's being changed in the future anyway. If you're the leader, then why aren't you leading? Are you just sitting there while everyone is spying on you? If you don't want to be spied on... don't be the leader, or maybe get rid of your opponents. Maybe try a harder difficulty;
In either case, recource starbases are no longer needed anyway, so they are basically irrelevant except for helping metaverse score.
...are you serious? Resource starbases are incredibly useful all the time. A good economy or military resource could be the difference between victory and defeat. Just because it's in enemy territory you give up on it? Especially on the higher difficulties when the AI gets all kinds of bonuses and you don't, it'd be crazy to ignore them. Wh

This isn't a straightforward method by any means, but one way to keep the other races from spying on you too much is having everyone go to war with each other early into the game. This way they're not spending their economy on spying, but on attacking and defending. If you're strong enough, do the same. Keep other civs at bay by attacking if you can. They won't spend anything (or much) on spies. They will also likely be spying on each other too, and not just focusing on you.

Once again, this the reason why I will continue to support stardock indefinitely. You guys are the most wonderful, hardworking, caring company I have ever had the pleasure to support. Especially after all that ruckus in the previous thread, I am impressed all the more with how much effort you all put into this game. You guys have my sincerest gratitude for producing such a wonderful game that I will likely be playing for years to come. Hell, I bet my kids are going to end up pl
Has anyone experimented with a "mixed" All-X strategy?
If by "mixed" you mean starting with one strategy and switching to another mid-game, then yes, it's been done. If you just mean building all of one building type on specific planets... that's not exactly an all-x strategy. The all factories or all labs (or all econ) strategies get their strength from setting your sliders to x/x/0 or 0/0/100 and gaining the full production/research bonus from your buildings.

Well, I'm not a programmer, so I can't say how easy or hard this would be, but it doesn't seem to be a major change so I'd like to request it: Planets on the colony list and the planet list do not currently tell you what kind of extreme world they are. You have to guess based on the color or memory (or if you wrote it down) which colonies are extreme worlds and which aren't. What I'm requesting is possibly a new tab, or at least an indicator graphic on the colony management pa
Spying, as a whole, is worthless.
Well, it's not totally worthless. I generally put the very minimum into it just so I can eventually have a few spies to work with (the cost is quite minimal). Getting a 'low' level espionage on everyone means I can tell how close their planets are to defection, which might motivate me to colonize or increase my influence in certain areas. And, having some spies is useful when you have a couple Civs decide to spy on you all at the same tim
See and i do the opposite. I build factories and buy colony ships. usually during that phase of the game my home planet is really the one that has the population to fill a colony ship. Also for other worlds to be building those they will need those facories AND starbases. I guess you do either. I will add that i only buy the first colony ship on the frst turn, after that i will let a couple of turns go by before buying so i dont pay as much. i try to pay less than 1000.
W

As one way to keep more of your initial cash in check, only rush-build the first factory, and maybe one other building on your homeworld, and then maybe buy the first factory on your other worlds. Your first concern in the game is getting enough production to actually build things in a reasonable amount of time, with research coming in second. Try not to spend all that cash you start out with, it's meant to keep your empire running while you're in debt. Also, make sure your pop
but when conquering the Yors six planets (I had five), my economy came to a halt
Are you saying you only had five planets in total? That's probably why your economy was so weak. This strategy gains its strength from having a lot of planets to A.) produce enough cashflow to continue building and B.) to keep enough focused research to keep a steady tech-climb. I would say play with more planets or try a slightly different strategy if you're going to play with so f

Neutral and good are better for all labs when you can't build the Mind Control Center or orbital terraformers very fast all. That doesn't make any sense. Being evil, you can net a 100% economic bonus and a 50% production bonus, not including other benefits. That allows you to build faster and longer since your economy is more powerful. Neutral indeed gives a morale bonus and all your planets are terraformed automatically as you research,

Sometimes I like to zoom in all the way to where I can't see anything before ending the turn, it seems to make everything go faster, especially when I've got 80 ships flying all over the place. I guess they move faster if your graphics card doesn't have to process them doing it?

One method to use to prevent this from happening is incite early wars. As soon as you've got money/techs to spend, start getting other races into wars with each other. They'll be much less likely to ally afterwards, and many of the races will be more wary towards each other. While other races are at war with each other, do the conquerors a favor and take the loser's now undefended planets so that the invading race doesn't have to spend more on transport ships. Wasn't that so thoughtful
