I beat the hell out of the AI with my fleets and kill any ship they build before they can use it. then I slowly take each planet one by one, has never failed me. I play on masochistic and crippling and use 1000m troop ships.

I tend to go military/diplomatic I like to specialize my large planets and for the small ones they get some entertainment and pay taxes. If i had 10 planets about 5 or 6 planets would be mainly military and the remainder would be reasearch and economy, but tends to lean more to the research side For domestic policy I keep taxes high and never let the approval rating drop below 60-65 at first i kept it above 70 but things moved to slowly so I had to push the people harder. The AI in the game would have to be way smarter, like acctualy making alliance with eachother and not just you. I have played quite a few games that i haven't repoted, mainly cause i didn't know what the metaverse was and I have never seen the comp ally with another, I always end up killing one at a time with my few allies witch help little and still get all the rewards

It's all about deception, kindness, and information. Give gifts, spread out trade, provide to those in wars, and keep an eye on everyone. now this is how u run a civ. lol
