Getting your economy going is indeed a lot harder than it was. I have to colonyrush in my games very aggresivly because I play on a large map with abundant stars, planets and habitals. First three tries I went bankrupt real quick with no option to recover (most anomolies gone and in the red with tax at 100% and productivity at 0%). My new strategy therefor was get all planets above 9 or at least one planet around a star execpt the really low ones (lower than 6). This still means that I

What is the exact influence of luck in the game? I kinda have the feeling I'm to lucky in most of my games. I get terrific plantes, lots of bonusses and last but not least most races wont kill me when I'm very weak. In my current game I've been hanging on by my fingernails not to get crushed as I went for a poor starting position between the altarians (i'm neutral so they really don't like me much) and the korx. They were about the same strenght and insteed of killing me they went for each other
Currently i'm playing on a large map, abudant habital planets, stars etc. with 5 computerplayers. I've build lasers first, then went al the way to photon torpedos. The computers however still counter my lasers but not my missles. Which of course is a good thing as i'm ripping them apart. The Ai ships all got lasers (plasma weapons etc.) so I use shields. My ships are nearly indestructable as a result. Mostly I combine weapons (8 laser 10 missle so forth). This tactic seems to work well. <br
A nice option for Dark Avatar would be selection options that would make things a bit more easy to overlook. I'm getting experience in shipbuilding now, but at first I would select huge parts to fit on my small ships. Although this can have cool effects, it not what I wanted. Also ships in space can be tricky to find if you have a lot! Of al different categories. It would be beter if you could select on basis of size or class. This is also true for finding planets with starports if you don't bui
