Quite right, thanks for that.

Hi I've come back to playing GalCiv II after a break and can only select Terrans to play. Can't even choose the custom race. Also I can't change the number of opponents, its stuck on 8 too. Everything else seems to be fine (I can choose difficulty, or change the Terran abilities etc) so far as I know. Anyone know what the issue(s) is? I've tried reinstalling to no avail. I'm on 1.40x. Cheers
Cool stuff Darth. Thank you Pleasure is all mine its sometimes a little amazing how interesting something that is otherwise mundane can be with a little presentation. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quo
My first TBS game, disregarding chess would be warlords. Warlords 2 was also good, and I really anjoyed ST: BOTF and Ascendancy, as mentioned by a few others here. and also the demo of imperium galactica 2. My very first game of any sort was battle of britain, loaded by cassette on an old amstrad. i got a very early lesson on taking backups too - i always rewound the tape after loading, once i
The footnote on that page dates it to 2001. oops. try this link for more up to date info (March 2006), though still before the recent decline in price. http://www.aip.com.au/pricing/oecd.htm Although prices are in AUD per litre, you'll get the gist. Wouldn't want to live in Turkey by the looks of the graph.

I must admit I am a bit of a grammar nazi myself, however only to the extent that I proof read my own comments before posting. In the defense of those that lack a bit of grammatical clarity, it is often not all that necessary to be able to understand what a poster is attempting to convey, and secondly grammar is not taught properly in many (all?) state eduction systems.
I like getting into the nitty gritty details of things, i'd love a more complex economic/trade engine. eg shipping farm output/raw materials between planets, having same trade routes subject to enemy attack and being forced to defend them with escorts. actually having to ship trade goods to foreign civs, rather than just having it handled abstractly.
Yorman - are you implying that you can attack things with starbases? I thought starbases could only BE attacked. Holy crap, did I not know this the whole time?? Can I tell a starbase to shoot enemies? No starships cannot move or attack (although i once had some thing happen which appeared to show my starbase shooting at a nearby planet, however i
Why not tweak the Huge ship to be the first target in the fleet? It would seem like that ship would be much harder for the enemy to destroy? Just how i like to play at the moment, i don't really see much point in designing and building escorts if they don't actually escort. I might as well only build huge ships (i actually did play one game whe
As for a good strategy, are you using starbases? If not I would build a few big military starbases in the main combat areas and use them to destroy anyone who comes close. Like you I also can't agree more. I always have military bases covering my planets, and squadrons of tiny fighters to guard them and intercept intruders. they only have an a
What do the AIs and George Bush have in common? Deficit spending. sometimes I find in the early game (and sometimes even mid game) the ai runs out of money and can't finance research and production for a few turns.
i don't mind the price of petrol (gas) going up, since i own shares in an oil company! and i don't own a car, but that has more to do with living in london than anything. when i go home (brisbane) i'll get a car again, start complaining about high prices (usually much less than europe, but slightly more than us), and buy more oil shares to compensate
in my last game an event triggered that made all uninhabitable planets within 2 sectors of a particular system become class 7, all told about 40 new planets became useful. i didn't take advantage of it though (it was a little away from me), just sat back to watch what i thought would be a 2nd colony rush. actually turned into colony crawl, it was excruciating waiting for the ai to retool to making colony ships, and about a year until even half had been claimed (on 1.2).
Question to the military base users tho... if you have a starbase with units near a planet will they still attack the planet first and just bypass the starbase? or does the starbase have some sort of draw for targetting purposes? so far as i've seen if the ai wants your planet, they will bypass the starbase. I know some people think the starbas
I like playing my games slowly, building up over time, so i usually face hi tech opponents that can take out starbases that have full weaponry. To combat this I just build vast numbers of cheap heavy fighters (small hull, tiny hull isn't big enough) with attack and defense values of one in each category - when you upgrade the assist modules to the max they end up with values of about 19 in each attack category (but only about 4 for defense, which doesn't matter in any case). th
