All the spies need are specific tasks (missions) which take a certain amount of time, depending on the difficulty of the task and the amount of money the opponent is spending on espionage at the time the more successful the spy will be. The custom maps cause the crash.

If you wanted to add a lot of depth to the story feature you could have it from the viewpoint of one of the races. I have no idea how much extra effort that would take. Also, don't be afraid to finish something with a patch if the deadline comes and your faced with the decision of scraping features. In the long run it is always better that way.
The mass for the Punisher 335 and the Numenor 400 is very wrong.
I think the game should only have these events happen in a biased manner, for example, if a player/computer is looseing then they get a good bonus but if they are winning by a large margin then they get a negitive event. This would put a hole new slant on general games and would make it harder to win a game thus a possable addition to the metaverse scoreing system. But you guys know best.
