I renamed the folder, and I was able to get it to start a new game, so I think that was all that it needed. Thanks for your help.

I just tried changing the Multisample, but without any luck. And as for resolutions, I have gone through all of those and combinations of the game and desktop resolutions. The weird thing about it all is that I had a good three or four weeks without any problems.

This is a problem I have had since back in July, and was wondering if there were any new perspectives on it. When starting a new game, I get a CTD after universe customization. I've been trying to get the game to work every time a new patch is released, but nothing has improved as of yet, so any new ideas would be appreciated. I matched the resolutions up, and brought page file up to 2. Still isn't going.

I just did that last night, and it still continued to crash.

I think that I am having the same exact problem. I've had GalCiv for several weeks and it has worked fine, but last week I tried to start a new game and it crashed after customizing the galaxy. I can still load saved games though.
