I'd like to see two more governors. The first would be a global way of changing all planets auto update and auto terraforming state at the same time. Also it appears that currently if you have auto update off when you finish researching a tech that would otherwise have caused an update, you don't automatically get the update once auto update is turned back on. The second governor I'd like to see would be one that could send different ships to diff

Sorry about that.

Research mining. Yep, I guess that could do it. Thanks.
This message also was to be posted elsewhere. No clue how it ended up here.
How do you get a 314% research bonus? Is this a civilization wide bonus or an individual planet bonus? As far as I can tell the max civilization research bonus would be 20% for racial ability, 20% for Technologists Party, 10% for the Planetary Improvement tech and 20% for the Hyper Computer trade good for a total of 90%. There's also 100% for Technology Capital and 50% for Omega Research Center, but they only apply to a single planet. Also each economic SB

I'm 2 years into my first suicidal game and I thought I was doing pretty good. I colonized 51 planets in good shape, researched to go neutral then up the research tech branch to get NLC. On my best planet, a PQ32 I put 26 NLC's, a technology capital and the omega research center. I was able to place 12 fully charged econ bases (+24% bonus each) that covered my tech planet. The total RP bonus is 438%. I also have another 8 planets in that sector covered by
Thanks for the responses. I had considered Impulse first but was inhibited by the initial development time of 28 weeks. Do you switch over to 100% research and focus the planet on research to speed up this up before producing any colony ships? Or do you produce Ion drive based colony ships for the time it takes to get Impulse? Or something in between? Also yes I do play gigantic and abundant everything, but I do lose out to faster AI colony ships
Caveat Emptor: I make no claim to any great insight into this game; my primary goal in outlining my early game strategy is to elicit response and critique from more experienced players (pretty much everyone). Also note that I've mostly played the Drath who start out with good bonuses and a good mix of starting techs. Other races may need to vary the initial tech research order consistent with their starting techs. I reset the default abilities and use the
I've had the same issue with the Find button. It seems that if the selected ship/planet is in the field of view somewhere then Find doesn't move the screen to center on the object. It usually (not always) helps to zoom way in before pressing the Find button. The same may apply to the Tab. As far as selecting ships and the auto-pilot, left click on the ship or fleet to select it and right click on where you want to go to set an auto pilot destinati
I've seen no real evidence of any good coming from being good. I generally play the Drath which start out leaning good so that I can take some of the evil planet quality choices and end up being neutral to get the free terraforming, the Neutrality Learning Centers and "cheaper" ship upgrades. However, I've ended up being good a number of times. If you're good, the good races are apparently more friendly to you but the only result of this seems to
I've tried permanent (min=max) pagefiles of 1024, 1536, 2048, 4095, 4096 and now 3072MB. I've also tried temporary pagefiles of 1024-2048MB, 2048-4096MB and 2048-4095MB. I can set anything I want as long as I first set no page file, reboot then set a random pagefile, but next boot the pagefile will be the windows recommended value of 1.5 times the RAM size even though the virtual memory setting under My Computer/Properties... as well as the PagingFiles value in the registry under HKLM\System\Cur
I know this isn't a bug with GalCiv2, but it is GalCiv2 that requires the larger than default virtual memory size. I've searched the internet to no avail and was hoping that someone here may have experienced the same problem. My WinXP recommend page size of 765MB (~1.5 X my 512MB ram) is too small for even large galaxies let alone huge. So I go to My_Computer/Properties/Advanced/Setting/Virtual_Memory/Change and set the custom size for my C: drive (my only drive) to a min and max of 409
