So...they arrived and I have absolutely no way to harm them. They're roaming through my territory destroying all my trade routes and totally decimated my fleet. Each of their ships has about 3 times the HP of my beefiest fleet and have like 10x the attack or defense of said fleet. A quick google search indicated that they're supposed to attack ships that leave your territory, not stay within in. Maybe I just screwed myself over by attacking them?<

OK, I found the problem: I had copied my My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder from another computer that had a higher-resolution monitor, so the game was trying to start up at 1680x1050 while my current monitor can't go higher than 1400x1050. Changed the prefs.ini and it works great now.

I'm having the exact same problem! Since it appears to be a video issue, I've tried turning on and off about all the video settings I can, but to no avail.
