But you only have to see all the ships move, if you have zoomed the screen out. If you zoom in on a single spot, you will only see the ship movements within this spot. All others will happen instantly. Or at least I think so...

Actually, there are ten races - the humans and nine aliens. And then there are the custom races of course.
