Ok... Gotta delete that sig.bin file and reauthenticate 1. Delete this file: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Twilight\sig.bin *** Note: Application Data is a nominally hidden folder, so you have to unhide it with folder options *** 2. Start TA (this will bring up the authenticate window) 3. Re-Authenticate with requested info 4. Enter Metaverse (You will not need to login if it works)</p

This worked for me. I originally had the "no serial - cant start a metaverse game" got that solved in Nov...then played out a game and ran into the "submit...crash to desktop problem" Then I just gave up on GC2 until today....followed your instructions...and whalla...my first posted game in 4 years. (and my fir

I have not opened a ticket on this. Duplicate tickets don't expedite solutions in my career field (they actually slow it down). But for anyone who has opened a ticket... this is what support staff needs to do... 1. Fresh install of game from the downloader...GC2 then DA then TA like everyone else does... 2. Enter game and start a sandbox TA game and make sure all the graphics thingies are working and whatnot..(this is so the support staff can rule

I went a different route than Rosco_P suggested. I identified my keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...exported the "component manager" entries.. in notepad I changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to HKEY_CURRENT_USER then deleted all "component manager" words (this allows for the keys to be entered as Stardock\Drengin.net) saved/closed/and doublekickedthe export file This entered all my keys into HKEY_CURRENT_USER I have no galciv2UL entry... Put your tax rate to 100% and leave it there. Your civ will eventually split in a bloodless civil war. They make a new minor race. Blood will be spilled bringing the rogue planets back under control. Hehehe

This is long but worth it for the new peeps. I like the Beam tree for weapons. My mile marker is Laser 3. I outfit a cargo ship with as many laser 3's as possible (I call them gun platforms) and then crank them to get 1 each on every planet. I do this by cranking up the military production rate in my economy, putting social and Research to 10-15% each. Once I have a garrison at each planet, I go back to research and planet building. I continue to build the gun platforms bu

ok kryo, I figured this one out for myself. I had assigned my child's user profile as a "limited" account in Windows. Once I changed it to a regular profile account, DA worked fine. The permissions error I received was due to the limited account status. All better now, but I still wonder why Dreadlords worked fine under the limited account and Dark Avatar wouldn't. TJ_Striker

I just realized I confused the language. When I said user account, I really meant user profile. I copied the DA shortcut from one user profile desktop to the other, and copied the "my documents" folders as previously stated. So when I logoff and switch user profiles, logon, using the same computer, DA gives the permission error when executed. I will copy the exact permission error message when I get home from work. Thanks TJ_Striker

I recently purchased Dark Avatar from Stardock. The installation went fine and I can get the game up and running. I have my computer set up with different users for my family, for the purpose of controlling my child's (age under 10)internet access. My child and I play Galciv together, taking turns, when I work she controls our civ. When I am home, we play it together. We do this playing the same game through different user accounts on the computer. Galciv2 always wo

Turn Timers, 1997 Axis and Allies had Turn Timers! Default 3 minute phases and 6 phases per turn. Most of the time, the turns went much faster as the players gained experience they didnt need the whole 3-minutes per phase. It would be nice to see (for the first time) a neat looking new ship (player designed), as it comes to kill you! And then...it would be much nicer to show say..your brother, your neat looking new ship design as it comes to kill him! And t

The AI Declares war without attacking first. I think we should have the option to formally declare war before hostilities begin. Lessen the diplo penalty for going to war in this fashion. And perhaps allow us to poll our allies with a question prior: Will you support me if I go to war with (plug in your target here)? And if they say yes (and get you all full of confidence), throw in a percent chance they actually won't. hehehehe

Reply to Minor Races? in Game Talk

Hmm, I have not seen any very active minor-race, they just seem to sit there. In my current game a minor-race asked for my help against my enemy the Iconians. I happened to have a decent medium class ship, Seastar-1800 (designed for fighting the Iconians in this game), near the minor-race planet. I bounced the minor-race a few BC's in the request and promised them the ship. I then flew the ship right up to their planet and signaled for their crew to board. I was hoping to see the minor-
