Am I missing something that's right in front of me? I was playing a game in which the Snathi planet was right in the heart of my territory. I had the opportunity to form an Alliance with them on the trade screen, so I did, just for fun. Later, when they started building influence starbases in the middle of my territory, I couldn't attack them because I kept getting messages saying I had to break my alliance with them first.
