This has been a major bug since the release of ToA. I haven't yet played 2.0, really I quit playing the game after this became an issue, but I encountered it in earlier releases. I can't believe they still haven't done anything about this. I made a thread about this before, and no one from Stardock replied. I have never seen them even mention this as an issue, so I assume they have no idea that these two civilizations are crippled in this way.

I sat for over 2 hours trying to figure out one of these puzzle pieces. I would recommend sitting it out rather than going to a walkthrough, no matter how long it takes. I go to walktrhoughs on many games, but this one is worth the frustration because the solutions are so elegant. When this game is over, its over (I would forget about finding stars), and it is quite satisfying having finished the entire thing on ones own. Far and away the best game I have bought
There should be more incentive to do leases than currently.
I think if you just give some incentive to pay off leases early they would be much more attractive. As it is, it just seems like you are just giving the company an advance on years of interest. I would definitely take more leases if I could pay them off advantageously when I had enough money.
I hate to mention things like this, but I haven't seen any info on it. Will this update include bug fixes for the current ToA game as well? For instance, some civilizations will not build a military at any difficulty level. This is quite a big problem, for instance any game I have had with Terrans in it they have been free worlds for the first one to invade them.
Do you know if any of the devs have acknowledged this bug and if they are planning on fixing it for the 2.0 release?
I have been playing a couple of games at Masochistic difficulty in TOA the past week and both games had the Terran Alliance as opponents. For some reason the Terrans seem to attempt to research through the Terror star tree without building a military. I know this because when I invaded them I got the tech Terror Star 3, which no one else had. This was deep in to the third or fourth year of the game and they had a military score of 0. While I did not chec
Enemy spies do disappear after you eliminate the race that sent them. The exception is if they surrender to you. Then their spies hang around. This can be confirmed through cheat mode
Thanks for the confirmation on that. What about if they surrender to someone else? That happens to me as often as them surrending to me, and far more often than I can eliminate them completely before surrendering.
The thing is, even if you eliminate the spying race, I don't think their spies disappear. At least, I have left spies on my planets before as I conquered the galaxy and they have never disappeared. On top of that, there is no game mechanism that allows you to identify the spying race.
So was Stardock Central, but that didn't get rid of it either. edit: I went ahead and tried it and it does work for Impulse. Nevermind, and thanks.
There is no command I can find in either the programs list or the actual program to uninstall Impulse. I had the same problem with Stardock Central, no uninstall utility. I tried the add and remove programs to get rid of Stardock Central and it just maimed the program without actually getting rid of most of the files. After manually deleting all the folders, I still have an icon in my programs list for Stardock Central that I can't delete. Is a manual deletion of the fold
It just doesn't occur to the big companies that people are buying 60 Euro console games and pirating 40 Euro PC games so they have this 'easy' experience on both platforms.
Holy crap, you guys pay the equivelent of 90 USD for console games? That is robbery.
The new patch has made things much more agreeable.
What patch? I only see 1.91.021 which has been out since release.
They will always have some negative comment, it is required to maintain a sense of being impartial. The theory is nothing is perfect so you have to say something bad about everything. The fact they chose no multiplayer and the campaign as their negatives, two aspects owners of the game really don't care too much about, is a boon to Stardock. They could have dug a little deeper and pointed out holes in the Tech trees or the lengthy research times if they didn't pick those two.
I hope Stephen Colbert puts you on his show, that would be some great advertising! The game looks great.
Which thread did he say that in? Not to be pushy, but basically that last update broke the game with the tech cost bug.
1. Patch all the holes in the tech trees. For example, the Yor and the Korath have no way to improve resource starbases or economic starbases. I have already mentioned this in a couple of places, but it is so annoying to play one of these races and find juicy economic and military resources nearby but have to wait until the AI researches up the xeno factory line, if they ever bother to. It makes me not want to play these races. I have heard people say the Thalan are missing an important starb
The Korath do not appear to have any tech for improving galactic resource starbases or economic starbases.
I have been checking the tech trees out because this feature was not present for any of the civilizations that didn't have Xeno Factory line in the Twilight Betas. I have found some tech for all the races I have checked except the Korath which allow upgrading of resource mining. Did they just get missed?
Uncheck Show Pre-release if you have it on, and then go to Tools->Settings->Internet Settings and refresh your XML. You may then need to go to Tools->Check for Application Updates as well.
I didn't read the instructions well, did I? Thanks for your help and patience! =)
I only see the version .86.003 available to install. Is the full version supposed to be up? I am on the US-1 as far as I can tell.
I have been pretty unlucky too, I haven't had a single mega event since I have played TOA. That has been through about 12 or 13 games, with difficulty about Masochistic and the option is always toggled on. I was wondering if it was a bug myself.
If you are talking about asteroid mining bases, then you need to put a space miner on the asteroid and hit build (may be improve) on the miner's command list. If you are talking about resource mining bases, then you need to research the xeno factory line to get access to higher upgrades and then place a constructor on the resource mining base.
how and where would I adjust the settings within the game without losing the one I have?
You can't, you have to start a new game. It is helpful to check your opponents when you meet them so you can make sure they are at the appropriate intelligence level. This is a frustrating bug.
Will this beta add the new victory condition?
This is an excellent idea! The way things stand, the jerkiness of popups and recenters actually distracts from a calm mindset conduscive to strategic thought, much like the formal techniques of television (cuts and zooms, pans, sudden movements) turn the thinking part of your brain off from overloading the orienting response. The fewer things popping up at you and the less the screen bounces around, the better. I really hope Stardock implements your idea.
