What would they do with the diplomacy skill though? It would be a completely worthless skill against human opponents. 50% more diplomacy skill will not stop a human player from declaring war on you... I'd like to see multiplayer, but the game wouldn't work the same on a human... and if they add in more realistic diplomacy as everyone wants (me included!)... all that would be useless with humans, too. So here's the question... how would they have to change the diplomacy skill to make

Thanks everyone! I've read all this (and that good link by Purge as well) and some other threads on the forum... Armed with a bit more knowledge about economics and a few buildings I had previously ignored, I started a large map on the difficulty one below max with lots of planets and managed a decent start. I've already taken over 2 races..

Thank you V1m. That will give me a bit of direction on something new to try. I guess I haven't been paying as much attention to economy off the bat that I should... I usually concentrate on production levels first... just getting all the building techs as fast as possible. Though I guess in some ways that hurts as it starts getting harder to upgrade new planets. Hmmm... Also I've never bothered going above the first sensor tech... haven't thought about the bonus of that eyes of

Okay... I read all these "Suicidal is extremely easy even if you don't get an awesome home world" comments and everything... And I'd like a little help as apparently I suck. :) First off, here is the only strategy that I've been able to come up with for the start along with all the problems I generally have. I try my best to get off to a good start in the colonization war. My custom race has speed +1 and ion engines already in the tech tree. I can pop out a 5 move colony ship on t

I think the point is it doesn't "hurt" anything... since it happens to all civilizations, you don't "lose" anything in comparison to anyone else. It's a bug, but since it won't put you or the computer at a disadvantage compared to any other civilization it in essence doesn't have an effect other than make you worried or irritated for no reason. Yes, it needs to be fixed just because it is a bug, but personally, since it has no real effect on gameplay no matter what all the people up

Hey guys... awesome game. Just thought I'd report a few minor bugs that I've seen that weren't addressed with the 1.2 version. You might have already heard them, but ah well. 1) After the sharing event thing that the UN council does, I always get a ton of new techs like I'm supposed to, but it still shows the "sorry, you were too advanced and didn't get any new techs" window as well as giving me all the new technologies. Just a misplaced if statement there I guess... should

Yea... the AI seems to develop so much faster now. It is really really hard to get a good enough chunk of the galaxy during the colonize phase now... and I have no idea how they get so much tech so fast. Looks like I'm stuck on crippling for a while until I figure out how to start better... I'll get there eventually.

P4 2.2 Ghz processor 1Gb PC2100 DDR memory 120 Gb HD Sound Blaster Live Value sound card GeForce FX 5500 The videos don't work half the time and gigantic maps can take a minute or so for a turn, though it's better with version 1.2 I usually buy a new computer when I get a good game that it just won't run. Hasn't happened yet with this one. (though gal civ 2 did make me get more ram... I did just have 512Mb) This is the first computer I ever actually b
