I decided to exit the game and try again. This time the very hard to read white text on yellow highlighting cleared up, back to the normal Terran colors. Not sure whether I screwed something up previously or not. Weren't the AI players supposed to be smarter about using tiles with bonuses? Why not just trade your tech research for AI colonies? I've found that even on suicidal, the AI will trade up to 4 colonies at a time for a dozen low level techs. In one turn yesterday, I went from 3 colonies to 17 colonies just by trading for them. Later on, the game will allow you to buy out AI civilizations for just a handful of fighters and techs. Seems odd that the AI would part with colonies so readily. Also, with the v2.01 update, the pop-up window
Would it be possible to add sliders to the game setup that allow ship navigation range to be adjusted? Is the AI tweaked for specific range values, or does the AI evaluate the range technology available before setting a strategy? Would it also be possible to add navigable worm holes? scintilion
+ FIXED: Crash in Quick Build List for social improvements Thanks! Just finished testing the change successfully. Passes even with Alt-Tabbing, jumping around different game screens and repeatedly hitting items in the quick build list. For those that are going to buy the TotA expansion anyway, why not go ahead and join the beta. So far the Beta has been playing with few crashes, mostly in the trading screen. The expansion is a nice improvement to game play. The only reason to wait is that you really can't budget $25 at this time. It's not like the game is so buggy as to be more frustrating than fun. I did a search for the word graphics in the debug.err file. I'm going to exit and check for updates then try the game again later.
On the turn completing the upgrade of a ship to a constructor, the zoomed-out view of the constructor is fine, but the zoomed-in view shows nothing. The graphic for the newly upgraded constructor failed to load. Not sure if there are ways to save this for repro, or whether a screen shot would be worthwhile. I purchased very recently partly due to the lack of protection. Copy protection only stops the honest or ignorant, not the determined. I'm not sure how much of a budget goes into buying copying protection, but considering that it is usually cracked within days of the release, the money could have been flushed with less hassle. scintilion
