Okay I've made a dozen or so posts and haven't had any formatting issues like this previously. Does anyone know how to correct this? The post actually makes sense when it's not crammed together like a bunch of jibberish.

whats the story with the formatting? This is the first time i've seen it completely jacked up like so.

Okay so I've been reading some info off of B5tech.com I'd like some feedback from the gang here. I've been thinking of breaking the weapons and drive systems research down and making them not so linear. So you're researching technology theories based on the B5 world. i.e. Resarching: Plasma Ion Gravametric (possibly opened up via researching advanced Ion tech) The breakdown which might be a problem is that while plasma based weapons remain heavily in use the plasma drives are

I can help organize and write the files for the tree; however, without reading any of the books I won't know of the specific techbologies which are shared amongst the races of B5. Maybe someone with a little more background knowledge could help us research? Though I realize without JMS here giving us a yea or nea much of it will be subjective and we'll just have to do our best. However, I think allot of the existing tech tree can remain the same with some B5 specific techs sprinkl

Rav, Star, Spax & Coplan you are all men amonst children. While everyone is wishing to make a new mod (myself included) you all have done it. Congratulations. Since DL'ing Ravs initial beta this mod is all I have played. I've fattened up the major races just for flavor by adding Drakh, Narn & Brakiri and not out of realism. It has been great fun to work with this mod and changes I make for my own personal modifications are done using this as a skeleton, I've all but forgotten th

R:TW was mentioned as an example of the options you were given if you wished to skip the combat as well as how beautiful it looks when playing. However, there are many valid options out there of decent tactical games includeing homeworld & Star Wars EaW. Two games which look fantastic and have solid playability. @ Pierpoint: when you're bored go fire up a game of Rome and attempt those same tactics using the numidians <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gi

Sneaker I think my point was that you have two strong opinions for or against tactical one side being against anything resembling tactical another side wishing something more. What you are proposing is something to please both camps which is a very tall or neigh impossible task. And while your suggestion was a valid one, A game which is strategic, tactical and both 100% turn based takes us 15-20 years back in time to the KOEI produced games. Which I grew up with and loved but you

With regards to the original topic, in my opinion i'm not sure if that would fly. There is a strong population that is against tactics of any level and the other such camp is in favor of something other than turn based combat. Trying to do the above is kind of half-assing both aspects and rather than pleasing both camps I think most would end up even more pissed off. While obviously I'm in favor of an R:TW combat with GC strategy I'm not even sure if Stardock is capable of such

Someone made the comment that adding tactical battles will turn GC into Rome:TW, as far as I'm concerned Rome:TW was gods gift to gaming. If GCIII came anywhere close to R:TW and retained the ability to easily mod I'd buy two copies just to support such an effort. GCII I've given a shot because of the wonderful strategic content and I cut my teeth on MOO back in the day. Now I'm completely hooked as it is an enjoyable experience. With regards to the battles even in R:TW I skipped

Forget spending 1500 or 2500, spend $200 and get 2gigs of low latency PC3200 ram. It's dirt cheap now. The only problems I had were with the game crashing which happens for some reason when I have the option for 400MHz ram turned on. Once I turned it back to automatic the game is a breeze.

Actually thats not a bad idea Valakov. I'm at work but do the minors have home systems allocated to them in the raceconfig.xml? If not might be worth just adding them there then add the cooresponding system/homeworld to the customplanets.xml..

Reply to Random event? in Modding

Nope i've seen the same. My allies had completely crushed our enemies and I was on cruise control to get an allied victory. The I received event.. when I was visited by my ally the Narn leader (playing a custom mod) he was assassinated etc.. and I was blamed for it by his successor yada, yada. Now they go to war with me and break up my happy alliance. So you're not alone.

GC2 is big indeed, however, no bigger than any of the mod's RTR mods created for Rome:TW. Tons of cities and dozens of battles at any given point between 16 oponents and the turns flew by.. In addition the tactical combat itself in GC2 is much much smaller than R:TW. It's true the AI in any tactical game leaves allot to be desired. R:TW was decent but could be exploited. However, so can the AI in any strategy game. Anyone else notice you can sell Warp drive MKIII to the AI then i
