I use a different system than most as I have a "buy the galaxy" strategy. I always research whatever I can research the fastest, in order of what gives me the best bonus. The only exception is if ther is only a one turn difference, and I am looking for a specific bonus. I then start tech trading as aggressively as I can. In a tech trading game, all tech are good as they used as leverage to get better techs. When I have gotten all the usable techs I can, then I start trading for treatie

I seldom get beyond medium on the espionage scale. that tells me where ships are bound and gets me their economic summery. That is all I have ever found useful in that games I play. I have never gotten anything else useful from espionage. I know that you can theoretically steal techs, but I have never seen it happen. I also love to play huge games, and in such games, I cannot get enough spies built up to use offensively without getting the "spy for every planet" mega event. Sci

I actually use the opposit advice as given above in larger games. In smaller games, specializing you planets and micromanagement of planets is a great way to go. I on the other hand I love giant games where it is common for me to have an empire 200+ colonies by the midpoint of the game. I have found the only way to manage such a large number of planets effectively in a timely maner is to standardize your building cues. I have a standard formula for what to build that

This is the central premise of my economic victory strategy, AKA buy the galaxy. Sell everything to everyone and buy planets. In my experience it leads to such eeasy influence victories that I turn that condition off. I hadn't realized that planets were available after conquest. The one thing that I would add is that empires refuse to sell planets when they have three or less planets reguardless of the circumstances and it becomes 5 times harder to culture flip a planet when an

I love the same types of games, and no there is not much hope. With the beta process or even updates sometimes the fix to the new game breaks a save game. I wish I had better news for you, but I don't. It is the price of playing a game that is constantly trying to make itself better. Scincerely, [email protected]

Hey there! Just updating this issue. This bug is still around even on the TA beta. I have one additional part of the bug that I noticed recently. The bug is actually present on all games on the first turn and reload turns. If you look at the map on the first turn, there is NO influence border until you hit the turn button. It will appear if you colonize the other planet in you system on the first turn! Scincerely, [email protected]

Don't waste your breath boys, This guy is a troll. My guess is a rival gaming progrmmer trying to start a one man bad mouthing campaign. This post would right at home on many gaming websites where people go to complain and the developers ignor or abuse them. Notice that he complains about Stardock's greatest strength: Their willingness to listen to our problems and continually improve the game after release. He tries to turn their virtue into a sin. He uses vague discriptions and a sing

There are some on the Wikipedia page and there are a number of them further down the list on this board. I have posted two that I think are helpful (If I do say so myself.) The First Turn is the most Important Turn of the Game & Comprehensive Influence Victory Strategy Guide There are plenty of others, but you may have to scroll down a bit. If you still can't find them leave a message here and I will post new messages on them and bring them back to the top

Thanks for the Blow by blow showing bug found and bug squashed. I don't know about anyone else but this really gives me a sense of the kind of work you do and the kind of progress being made. Now if only you would only address the wrong influence on reload bug. ;) Scincerely, [email protected]

The way that I have heard to stop an influence and diplomatic victories is to declare war on someone. I usually turn influence victory off because it tends to end a game while I am really enjoying it. Scincerly, Scintor

I and others have written some detailed strategies and walkthroughs which are pretty good. Don't overlook the walkthroughs. I had been playing for a while before I tried them and was surprised at what I learned. Scincerely, [email protected]

I use this to my advantage all of the time. I always colonise all of the best planets in order of their usefullness. I have no problem letting a the odd forgien colony in my area, because it usually comes to my side in time. This is especially usefull in a passive aggressive influence campaign. I have been using this for a while and have recently added buying strategic planets from other civs just after they have been colonized. The result is that I get all the best planets and most fli

I started a thread called "Legacy Bugs" about longstanding issues that have never been addressed and mentioned this bug in particular, but no one brought up any other issues and there was no developer comment on it. Scincerely, [email protected]

Ive been crusading to get this one fixed for a long time. I,ve sent bug reports, screen shots, and the kitchen sink as well as starting and commenting on numerous threads to bring attention to the problem. Someday it might be fixed, then again it might not. Scincerely, [email protected]

The last RTS games I actually enjoyed were Dune and Dune II which were the only RTS games that the mechanics of building up your forces were not contrived and counter-intuitive. Everything since then seemed to me just to be bad knock offs of those originals. Scincerely, [email protected]

I am an avid player and have been since Ultima on the Apple II, but I never play multiplayer. Every time I tried I ran into player after player who played the exploits instead of the game. I've had many games that had multiplayer options and have never been interested in ever playing them. I have been pretty busy with what little spare time I have had for gaming beta testing TA. I have heard great things about Sins of a Solar Empire, and I am likely to try it even though it has two of m
I'm pretty sure this one is a graphics problem b/c I've seen culture flips on processing the first turn after a reload. I've both lost and gained worlds that way.
Actually, there is a difference. When your cultural influence excedes 4.0 times it's own culture, it does not automatically gain the skull and crossbones. There is a percentage chance that it does. Once it does, there is a percentage chance that it will flip. I have had planets flip on the first turn, but t
AFAIK, that's not a bug so much as the result of compromise between save file size and re-load speed. The game would either have to store a large array of coordinate data or take the time to do the calculations as part of a re-load.
I can't agree. The calculations are just off the first time for some reason. The influence is not saved, it is calculated. Every time it is calculated, it comes up the same, except for the first turn of a new game and upon reload. I know it on

I have been noticing a related issue. I would love to have random races wit the option not to have both a race and a modification of the race at the same time or at least not have to compete with the race you just modified from. Scincerely, Scintor

I don't know if there is another thread like this but I was posting on another thread and ran across a bug that thas been there since the beginning as far as I can tell. I have never mentioned on this forum because I am so used to it that i had forgotten about it. I was wanting to start a thread where we can talk about such bugs as we run across them and give the devs a list of issues that we have run across so often that we have gotten used to them. The particular legacy bug
