I do not think a player should be able to neg. a peace between an empire they are at with and another empire. For example: I am fighting the Torians and I should not be able to convice them to make peace with the Yor when I am at war with them (the Torians). IMHO it is too easy to keep the other empires in the game from snatching up easy systems/planets during the later stages of an AI empire's dismemberment by the player's empire. By keeping ever

I don't know if I would call it rubish. I have played a few other 4x sci-fi games and this is above par IMO. I do think they could really take this game to the next level easily by turning GCIII into the sci-fi 4x game with the best Diplomacy/Espionage facet around. A dozen espionage options (or variants) and a nice deep diplomacy system could all be presented without a ton of high $$ production. The design would be the difference. <br/
Sorry, but I think I have posted too much on this issue already. Please do not expect a responce from me on this tread again. But, I am able to "rate" myself as a Troll! That cheered me up! LOL! GG
Interesting ideas...
(Please Note: the below reflects GG's personal opinion and he is in a particularly foul mood today so he apologizes up front if he offends anyone) Nowhere have we said that customers could not make backup copies of GalCiv II... And nowhere did anyo
Ad-Aware from Lavasoft has been installed and up to day on my PC for two years. They missed the boat on this one. GG
errr.... Just to clarify, my discs were fine. I had a malware/virus on my PC that was screwing with new installations (in an effort to twart its removal by anti-spam tools no less!). GG
It sounds to me like the AI may be allying too easily/quickly (lord knows nations don't do it in reality so easily!). And when the AI does ally itself it does not "respect" the alliance as would be the norm in "our real world". When a nation finds itself in an alliance with someone who is at war with a "friend" it must be forced to choose its course of action: 1.) Break the alliance or 2.) Declare war on your allies foe. I honestly can not rationalize the definatio
I was using espionage quite a bit in my first few games, but in my last two I have not used it at all. The main reason I was using espionage was to determine the tech areas of my AI opponents. BUT, it seems I can do this much easier with 100% accuracy for free by just going into the "Speak To" screen and scanning their techs they have for "trade". :-/ It then occurred to me that perhaps the AI would simply not display techs that it had, yet was unwilling to trade. But, it s
...but on those occasions I pretty much swatted aside their outdated warships and shook my head as I took out hordes of unescorted transports. I have only been playing for a week and 4 of my 5 games have been on 1.2 but I am seeing the above in my current game now. The Acreans (sp?) are doing this in wave after wave. They alternate attack/inv
While I have only been playing (non-stop) for a couple of weeks. I noticed last night after I allied with the Korx that even though I had a long standing war with the Arceans they continued to maintain "Friendly" relations. I let it go figuring their relations should at LEAST worsen over time. I did not track time but it has to have been at least 20 turns and they are still the best of pals with the Arceans as the Arceans continue to send fleet after fleet to attack their ally (me). :-)
I am 42 and I have been buying/playing and selling my old PC games for twenty years and IMHO GC 2 is the best sci-fi 3x game I have played in a VERY long time. But, this attitude by Stardock bothers be quite a bit. I get this crap from Sony, Microsoft, etc (ex. unable to make my LEGAL a back up due to encryption because of 11 year-old pirates, etc). Now I have to put up with it from small outfits as well? Frankly, at this point, if Stardock released GC 3 tomorrow a
Can anyone confirm that minors can not be influence flipped? I seem to have missed that bit... GG
For the record... This was "malware". Not a virus as McAfee explained (and excused themselves) GG
And it doesn't matter what game difficulty you play on, from easy to suicidial, once you're over the initial "hump" you won the game. I think this is more a factor of 4x gaming actually (that and political/military reality in these games). I can not think of a good one I have ever played that did not suffer from this eventually. Pe
This is not working either... I have two discs and several software progs from this company on my PC and my PC desk... It would be extra nice if the actual GAME was among these peices of work I purchased and spent my free time trying to install over my holiday weekend... If I do not hear something soon from someone in support about replacing these discs they are going back to the store. GG
Thanks for the tip. I installed the frontend and I am dl/ing the install files now... BUT, I still want my cd's replaced. I paid full price for a "hard copy" and I want my cd replaced. Someone from support please contact me with instructions on how to return/replace my defective discs please... GG
I am getting the following error text during installation on disc two. I can retry enternally it seems and it tells me to swap discs over and over and over... But it always ends with this error text... This is the exact text. The message box header reads: "Install" "An I/O error occured while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file." Some one from support please let me know what to do now.
