Starbases seems to be unable to destroy enemy ships in the beta, they can cause damage but the ship wont be destroyed no matter how much damage it takes. I know it happens between a player owned starbase and an A.I. ship but I have not confirmed that its the case between an A.I. owned starbase and a player owned ship.

I could not help but notice that you seem to have gotten the wrong idea but the genre of the game. You do know that its a 4x turn based space strategy game (think civilzation in space) and not a space shooter, right?
