I name my ships depending on my situation. The "TNS Devistator" was one of my designs when i was annialating some annoying Iconians. "Orbital Assulter" was one of my favorites during invasions. The "Last stand" came out right before i was attacked by a huge fleet. it won. "TNS Eturnium" had a ton of defences. "Apocalipse" was one of my greatest fleets ever built. it destroyed everything in it's path. some ships i used to lure the enemy to my base were "Carrot ona Stick". My trade ships were call

Your wrong. I am not sure why, or how, and i have no proof to contradict you, but yah, your wrong. Feel better?

I never worry much about what my ships looks like, they're gigantic floating piles of metal with gun's. As long as you got stuff, it doesn't matter how you arrange it.I once made a ship that shot it's own dorsal fin every time it attacked. but did i lose any points? NO! (which was wierd) but seriously, the only thing you really need to make cool ships is practice.

so THAT'S what that guy was talking about on one of the other posts. a movie about a ship sailing over water! or a figher or something. As for your question, it appears to be a random event that increases cultural power of races except for the Terran alliance. probably because they've got so much power that they're trying to win a cultural conquest. Merchants and Ship keepers are apparently being forced to only sell home made goods (Native), no foreign stuff, increasing the cul

so it takes twice as many of the psyonics to equal 1 dread lord gun? then the dread lords seem to be at an advantage. don't forget that they ALSO have maximum shielding, armor, and missle techs. It seems to me that the evil is still at a disadvantage (evil player that is). but correct me if i'm wrong, so i can argue the point. i so love to argue. Hay, i just got an idea, to make the game even harder to win when this thing comes up, why not increase the Difficulty level of the race that

yah, that's a really cool idea. Maybe also have something to balance it, Like give there a chance that if there are a certain number of good players, the Precursers will spawn in equal numbers and fight the Dread lords. Precursers wouldn't attack Dread Lords to help a galaxy full of evil guy's, but they might help those who are good. Or it could be a stargate SG-1 Thing, as a random event: Evil Ascended dreadlords have founded a religion and are controlling a miner race, giving them the technolo

The reason we're talking about starbases is because Briney brought it up. but ships, maybe. there'd have to be a limit on how much buff you could get, and maybe only for other ships in a fleet. yah, carrier's might work, perhap's with a carrier in a fleet, then any ships with tiny and small won't be counted when it figures out the movement speed. that would mean more weapon space and defences on the fighter's and make sense.

Here's a possible explination why, a starbase is a gigantic thing, and your moving at FTL speeds. Now it's true that gravity doesn't matter much in space, but inertia still does. the starbase's are so large, that they'd need alot of engines to move, and they all have to be spaced around because of inertia. Every part of the station has it's own inertia, the bases that have parts off them and flying around are even worse. now, what happens when the center of the station suddenly accelerates to FT

aah, nothing like seeing an Alien Annialation fleet appear on your sensors and know that there isn't a single working weapon onboard any of them! sabotage would be cool.

Like the ship killer idea. sounds neat, but is it really practical? it would take a massive amount to produce, you'd need a specialized constructing planet, and even then it would probably take a while. Also, Is it really worth it? 1 doom ship is nice, but it can only attack one ship at a time. and a large group of 1 man fighters with heavy weapons but little defence might hit it in an exaust port and blow it up! (or they would just overwhelm it with their attacks, you see the picture n

sounds interresting. more real then just leaving and being hated. the rules aren't always carved in stone, sometimes they're flexible. Like Speed limits on the highway! but less seriously: I do think that it would be a good addition. there should still definately be the option to leave. and when you leave, if your standing when you left was low enough, the other's should have a small % chance to all go to war with you or something like that.

so play the altarians or the torians. they're not evil. and if pics are your problem, why not take your own? or google them. www.ign.com has over 150 pics, why not just cut and paste from there, edit out the parts of it you hate or don't need, and use those?

DID YOU KNOW THAT: i knew what we was talking about, i was trying to figure out what Master you was talking about in my second scentence, sorry if i wasn't being specific enough, and thanks anyway. wow, you posted that right before me. well thanks for letting us know. i've never seen that ship over the ocean or whatever it was, but thank you for telling us, NOW WE KNOW!!!

Can that event happen to You? or is it just for the A.I.? let me think... Is it some sort of random event that occurs about finding a ship on the ocean or something?

Let me see, what would be an old star trek ship? hmm, i'd guess Constitution class (That's what the first enterprize was) that's the oldest i can think of, and if not then galaxy class. which is old now, but not AS old. am i right?

lol. anyway, If you'll look at the hull design techs in your technology menu, you should find a list of the ships that requre that tech in the description pane on the right, and what other techs they need so you can use them. And since all ships except the veeeeeery smallest need hulls researched, that should give you an idea of what most ships require. customizing is still a better choice because it allows you to change on the fly whereas core designs may not meet your needs if the AI

here's something that you might find useful,it's a general layout of a planet that i usually use (unspecialized): Class 5+ 1 Adv Factory or higher 1 farm (not on a bonus, you'll wanna research farm's later and bonus's make it a pain) 1 Stockmarket (adds economy and moral) 1-2 Moral boosting building. 1 spaceport after that add things you feel the planet might need. the farm is used to help fight off invasions (extra soldiers) and to make the planet more pro

I have had the exact same problem once or twice. I did a good option that lowered my approval rating by like, 3%. try as i might, nothing seemed to work to get it back up from one percent, even on old worlds that i'd never had problems on before. thankfully, i still had enough mind left to try to fix it. I loaded an autosave and it didn't occur again. it was a close call though, i almost lost my mind while the game was loading. The only way this won't work is either: A. You do everything exactly

Hmm, turn based multiplayer seems like it would be fun, maybe good for the metaverse because you could add in an emp vs emp where a champion from one empire fights another champion. would probably take a long while to finish, and 2 players could gang up against comps and rule the universe, then stab each other in the back right before finishing off the last enemy and go one on one. either way, it would be fun, long, but fun.

Well i don't know. The game can fudge some pretty hard to believe things, but that's only because they've been paved over. Hyperdrives, wormholes, all of this has been told over and over by Starwars (i love that show) and Startrek (the older series were better then the new one). But a Gigantic base as big as a star has only been seen once or twice. (Startrek: The next generation Season 5, episode... something or other i can't recall) and isn't quite as fudgeable. Everything seems phesa

Hmm. I don't know... Ovbiously a regular Star Encompasing sphere is out of the question for us in real life, but maybe not the game. Certainly for us it would take hundred of years, but the thing with Galactic Civilizations is that it's NOT just 1 planet building it, it's an entire intersteller empire. With 10 worlds worth of construction ability, and the orbital replicators probvided by the Industrial Starbases, constructing a Sphere might not be as hopeless a proposition. obviously the largest

actually, the government research provides a 50% boost to your economy at max 15% at republic. 25 at democracy. 50% at federation. I'm not sure if they stack, but either way a 50% economy boost is nothing to sneese at.
