I'm a bit confused. I've been playing GalCiv 2 since shortly after the release date. Shortly there after, I registered for updates, and I've pre-ordered the expansions for the game. I did not need to do anything special to ensure that my ability to download GalCiv 2 (or any other game) was preserved between the generations of download apps (Stardock Central, Impulse, GameStop App). Are you sure you haven't properly checked your GameStop account? It should be a copy

Strange. I think I've had TA games that had multiple Precursor Mines and Precursor Libraries on the same map. Edit: Ok, I gone through at least a dozen old saves thus far and I haven't found a map that 2 precursor mines or libraries yet. However, I've saw maps that had 0 precursor tiles, but those were smaller maps (like Tiny sized). Does the map size play a role in how many Precursor tiles there are on a map? I'll try a very big maps for my next few games. <br

In regards to cheating using fleet modules. An example where you should not target the ship with fleet modules is when an entire fleet is armed with nothing but guns, except the ship with a module that boosts defenses. There is no defenses in the fleet, so there is no point in wanting to target that ship first because it has a module, yet the combat engine will give a much higher priority to target that ship with the fleet module. Fleet warp bubble don't have any in combat benefits, yet t

I'm surprised you are playing suicidal without knowing these details. No matter. I don't know the math off hand for fleet combat prioritization and I've been playing this game for years. ---- The game prioritizes the destruction of ships based upon what it thinks will eliminate firepower as quickly as possible. For instance if a fleet had 2 cargo hulls (hp of 1 each), one having an attack of 1 and the other having an attack of 20, the opposing side will alway

I do appreciate and admire your hard work with programing AIs. In GalCiv 2 for instance, I've seen the AI improve over many patches. I probably should play FE more often. I don't because of a mix of I like sci-fi games more, and I don't like Steam.
The talk of a government collapse or debts being called in triggering this event is silly talk. When you have a fiat currency, you can print money to pay bills, and you can also default if you wish as well. There's a reason Greece became a complete basketcase and Iceland is recovering despite having worse fundamentals.
Printing money and defaul

Well, I too don't get why there is often an over emphasis of multiplayer in games. I don't like playing online. My gaming life hasn't been diminished by it. I do have a problem when an online feature somehow causes other features (like single player) to be diminished. I don't like MMOs. I have tried to play more than a few, but they don't quite mesh right with me. I don't play at the same speed as others (my speed tends to vary), so it is possible for me to

I didn't forget many things, I omitted them. The guide was written for players who knew how to play previous versions of the game, but were having troubles making the change to the TA expansion. I assumed readers would already know many basic concepts of the game, so I did not include them. I suppose a new general guide might be needed because entirely new players are showing up after so many years after the intended purpose of this guide had passed. They would need introductio

The latest version for TA (Twilight of the Arnor) should be ver 2.04 . At least that is the version I have. Mind you, I purchased the game long before Stardock moved to Steam so I'm able to download it through other channels. So I wouldn't know the version that Steam would have because I don't actually have the Steam version. I don't play multiverse myself. I don't see the point in doing so. Other players however seem to like to compare scores. The la

I haven't entirely forgotten about this thread. I've been a bit preoccupied, so hence the lack of responses from me. I've since managed to setup a new email address for the purposes of running these tests (I do not wish to risk losing important emails if something goes wrong). I ran into some troubles with Thunderbird, but I've since fixed them. Apparently I needed to do a few things, not just one thing to get everything working (which wasn't obvious). I had no such proble

I thought I would check to see if multiplicity is still on Stardock's website... and it turns out that the link I found will redirect to Edgerunner.

I find that the AI is more willing to make peace when you are more powerful than them. More so when you are clearly kicking their ass. Destroy their ships, destroy their starbases, and take their planets. Do this and they might realize that being at war with you might be a bad idea. Keep this up and they may end up asking for peace or surrendering (to someone most likely). If you don't appear to be winning, it is possible to pay them to accept peace with you. However, I am usua

My big concern is the loss of knowledge and data. While the possible collapse of civilization and the loss of life may be tragic and all, it would also be tragic to lose a great wealth of knowledge that enables our civilization to work. Imagine trying to reinvent the computer, or losing all progress in medicine in the last few decades. It think it would hurt. Once we stabilized again, not only would we have to repair things, we would have to figure things out again that we once knew. When the

In my recent experiences, the GameStop App seems to take a while to load and stuff. By load, I mean that all your games you don't have installed don't show up as available for download at first. Maybe you should load the GameStop App and wait 10 minutes to see if you still can't access all your old games. It seems like it takes me a few minutes waiting for it to load fully and check the internet before I can do anything meaningful. In regards to relying on GameStop, I&#

I used them both; Outlook for work (all hail Exchange!) and Thunderbird at home.
They do seem like the 2 major players. I know people who use one or the other. I can check out how they have been using them. I've tried to tinker with both, but Microsoft seems to made themselves incompatible with other clients and even with their own older products. I have been putting off asking questions about email for far too long. Somehow, I fell behind the times and now I'm not really sure what questions to ask. Internet related questions were never my strong point. I'm wondering how has email changed in the last decade, and what should one do to be more modernized. I like to keep email on my main computer so its accessible even when the internet is down, and to give me control over backups and stuff. I'm a bit afraid to expe

Before you folks get too into this topic, remember that the original post was made all the way back in March 2006. GalCiv2 was released about a month before this thread was made. This thread could very well be the first documented case of this "having too much money" problem.

Well, a while back I figured that it might be rude to be well... rude to devs who interact with people on the forums. They are doing us a service by making games, so I don't want to discourage them. Since then, I've trying harder to remain polite or neutral when dealing with devs like yourself, even when I think you are making bad decisions. Mind you, I was already polite and stuff before, but I try harder. I may even delete text (or save it elsewhere for later) instead of posting it

The big thing I'm worried about, and is likely to come to pass, is that GalCiv 3 will require Steam. I don't like Steam and I don't trust them. What can even be worse is if they intergrate some of these fancy Steam features so it can't ever be run without Steam.

Yeah, the pre-designed ships in Dread Lords don't take full advantage of all the technologies you have. Take for instance the miniaturization techs. They increase the space possible on your ships, so you can stuff more weapons and defenses on your ships. Normally, a civilization can get as high as 100% miniaturization (that much will double ship's capacity) by researching techs alone. Suffice to say, a ship with twice the gear is likely to beat a ship that has to make due with the nor
