heavy fighters are actually just a name used by the computer for their ship designs. Small hulls I beleive, with weapons. Doesn't make much of a difference. You can build them yourself if you name your ships that way. As for the 'corvettes' the computer uses, they are medium ships. See the previous post here.

I've been using the tips you guys provided and am happy to report that they are working I've installed my homeworld and a big world as economy worlds and life has gotten much better! Thanks again for all the tips
This is confusing; Make sure you have the latest graphical drivers; Also make sure you are using the latest drivers for your motherboard (chipset). This will also make a difference... I don't see any lag myself... I do have a fairly fast system though. But installing up to date drivers for your mobo and your gfx card are important!
I hadn't considered using my homeworld as an economy center... I was thinking that for research at first. I'm going to go with your advice and give that a shot. Thanks a lot! Myr
Hey all; I'm having some trouble jumpstarting my economy at the start of the game. Can anyone give me some tips on this? I make it a point to play on 'slower' technology speed, as I don't want to have 'research complete' every round. Anyways; Currently I play by colonizing my second world (size 4) right away and building a startbase there. I purchase a factory on my main planet and pump out colony ships on both worlds until I have some 200bc left. My
This bug is most easy to explain step by step... * When I trade with computers I can trade for their ships; * When I have their ships I wish to upgrade them to my newest but-kicking design. * Sometimes the shipsets are different from my own. (Say... I have a terran set, they have a yor set). * When the upgrade is complete the ship is not remoddeled into my own design, but it is some strange mixture which does not make any sence. When victorious some transports survive with remaining troops; Doesn't sound like a bug. I'm actually quite hapy that this is the case. Transport construction takes considerable time on huge maps... would be bad if they all disappeared after a single attack.
In response to the first post'; I think it would be a good point if the AI valued high-population planets higher. I know I consider them primary targets for my invasions.. I can take the smaller ones later, but the big planets are of far more value to my empire. Yeah; the cost is higher. It would be good for a computer to value such targets more important.
