How about having a patrolled border a certain mumber of tiles away from each of your planet. No one can cross these boarders without an open boarders agreement, Ala Civ-IV.

Those pictures look great! I cannot wait to see what the real thing will look like, animation and all. And, if those pictures are with anti-aliasing OFF, I would love to see it with anti-aliasing ON. In response to Lord Null, I would also like to see better graphics for the soliders. At least one model for the different races. The Acreans, being 12 feet tall, should have very tall and muscular solidiers. The Thalans should have insects running around. The Yor should have Terminator
The benifit would be that small ships will not need life support and engines, and have more room for weapons.
How about this: A ship is made a carrier by adding a module. This module is so large that after the ship adds life support and engines, there is no room for any significant attack and defence on all but the largest hulls. Even then, it will not compete with non-carier ships. Any tiny or small ship acts normally. However, when they join a fleet with a carrier, their speed and range is overridden by the speed and range of the carriers. This is a very simple was to place carriers
Good news! I have finally gotten the range modules to work! I will want to do some playtesting to balance some of the changes I have made, so it might be a while before 1.2 is out. Please, if anyone has suggestions, speak up!
I would like to know why it is so hard to edit one's posts and replies? At most other forums, I can edit my reply years after it was made. Why is that not the same here? What is the logical reasoning?
It sounds like the Arceans always get to fight the first round, and all ships which survive fire back. Then the battle proceeds as normal.
1. The defence role is actual 0 - (Highest Def.) The Manual is incorrect. 2. Even if it was not incorrect, a ship with zero defence would logically never recieve 1 defence. I do not thing defence is rolled for those ships.
I've never had an ethical choice outside of a colonization, do such things occur? They do, all though for some reason they almost always involve your home planet.
I think the Drath and the Altarians have made some sort of truce in Dark Avatar, so I guess that means their dispute has been resolved. Also, whenever I play the game as the Drath, I am always nutral. They should be good, from what I am told, but they are not.
The funniest think I see in that picture is the reply text: "Believe me, we know this"
No. Toxic and barren are two different types of environments, which is why they have different names.
i personnaly think that they way the abilities were initially decided, that they would make the game extremely unbalanced. the super abilities are well a bit too super for my liking. That is my opinion as well. They are certainly going to rebalance these traits.
When receiving galactic prison or Olympics can there be a graphic that replaces one of your factories or something on the planet to show this visually. It would be nice to see these as a special galactic achievement or accomplishment. This would be annoying if it took up otherwise usable space. If these things take up otherwise unusable tiles (in
I Agree. The player can name almost everything else- even enemy planets- yet cannot rename stars. Unless I am missing something huge, this should not be hard to add.
One part of the game i would like 'tweaked' is a players ability to see what the AI ships have 'bolted' to them. If you click on an AI's starbase you require a high level of espionage to see what it contains, yet you can see all the components of one of their ships from the start. This would further enhance the spying role etc Plus it would boost multi-weapon shi
I actually would like the Mega Events to be a slider, ranging from none to abundant, perhaps including a setting for random, so you start the game not knowing what to expect.
If I read corrrectly, they are not removing anything. There are simply colapsing the weapons techs so that the tech tree looks cleaner.
I found this qoute here, in the Galactic Core: The Galactic Core Originally, this information was on this forum as well, but that journal was deleted for some reason. Perhaps they have changed some of these for balance reasons. I do not know.
I have just uploaded the mod, and it should be up in the Library as soon as it goes through customs. Here is the new link: TOV's Starbase and United Planets Mod v1.1
OK. After some more intesive testing, I have decided to make some changes. I also whant some asistance. 1. I will be changing the Righteous Forum to cost money and require another module- the galactic forum. 2. No matter what I do, I cannot get the range feature to work. I will leave it in, however, in case someone else can figure the darn thing out. 3. I may also add some new starbese modules If anyone has any suggestions for fixes, additions, or comments, pl
I would like that, too. I also have my own idea on the subject: invations will inevitably kill a certain percentage of the civilian population, but certain tactics cause more casualties than others. Traditional and Information Warfare will have the smallest number of casualties, will others will have very high values, in proportion (or at lease within the same trend) as the advantage recieved. But even without this, the barracks will add a lot to the game.
Here are the super-abilities. Be warned: They may change at any time until the game is out. Terran Alliance: Super-Diplomat. Super-Diplomats have the ability to get other civilizations to go to war with each other and are better at getting other civilizations to stop being at war with them. They also are much better at getting hard bargains and their culture is mu
I have seen huge hulls, Trust me. I just never seen that comparison before. It must be the angle makes the ship look bigger.
I do not think the preview said you can degign AI ships. I think it said you can create templates to customize how their ships look.
