Hmm I played a long game last night in which I spent extra care to be sure and have espionage covered on all other species and races. I also made sure not to trade with species that were not aligned with me once everyone had xeno ethics researched. No occurences of vengeance events. Maybe it's just random and my luck improved, but it seems that vengeance is probably tied to espionage levels.

I have had to endure this event a number of times. It is lame in my opinion. I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't for the way it goes down. The event itself is fine, so is the resulting war declaration. The problem is the map getting spammed with hundreds upon hundreds of useless spacecraft. One can force their hand if xeno ethics is already yours. Sell the tech to the AI and it will push them into making the choice. I often find that the AI does exactly what I didn't want it to do...which is great. I am a strong believer in Murphy, especially when it comes to war. No plan survives first contact with the enemy...

I was playing a battle of the gods scenario last week when I first got the game and had an odd encounter with a class 0 planet. The galaxy size was huge and it was down to three species of aliens besides myself and the place was packed with starbases, ships, trade routes and just general clutter, so the game was going a bit slow when zoomed in. Near the end of the game I was clearing out all unneccesary ship maint cost and ran into a colony ship at rest relative to a planet. I clicked on it and
